December 31, 2008: December Round-Up:
December has been a rather quiet month, but the main news this last month has been the economic situation that seems to be hurting at many clubs.

November 30, 2008: November Round-Up:
We are back to winter-mode with monthly updates. This month's bulletin is mostly about transfers.

November 06, 2008: Round 27 of the Formula Division:
The Football Association has finally decided that the 3 called-off matches in the final round will not be replayed. The result 0-0 will be recorded, and each team gets a point in the table. The 2008 season is therefore officially over now.

November 01, 2008: Round 27 of the Formula Division:
More than a week after the final round of the Formula Division should have been played, the Football Association has still not made any decision on whether the cancelled matches should be re-played or not.

October 31, 2008: Player of the Year Awards 2008:
Arnbjørn Hansen, EB/Streymur, is handed Player of the Year award 2008.

October 25, 2008: Round 27 of the Formula Division:
The 27th and final round of the Formula Division was marred by appalling weather – strong wind and heavy rain, and 3 of the matches were cancelled after they had started. Only B36 Tórshavn against B68 Toftir and NSÍ Runavík against Skála were played to the end.

October 21, 2008: Round 26 of the Formula Division:
A hat-trick from Arnbjørn Hansen secures EB/Streymur the championship title. B71 Sandoy are relegated after 1-0 defeat to Víkingur.

October 19, 2008: Round 26 of the Formula Division:
All the matches in the 26th and penultimate round of the Formula Division have been postponed to Tuesday, October 19, because of strong wind at most venues.

October 18, 2008: 1st division news:
07 Vestur and AB Argir win promotion to the Formula Division 2009

October 15, 2008: World Cup 2010 Qualifier, Group 7:
A 20th minute goal from captain Tomas Danilevicius was enough for Lithuania to beat the Faroe Islands in Jógvan Martin Olsen's last match as coach for the Faroes (video highlights).

October 11, 2008: World Cup 2010 Qualifier, Group 7:
The Faroe Islands eat another Wienerschnitzel. 18 years after the famous win over Austria, the Faroe Islands once again managed to stop the Austrians who this time escaped with a 1-1 draw, however. (video highlights).

October 05, 2008: Round 25 of the Formula Division:
Title still on hold as 10-men B36 Tórshavn beat EB/Streymur 5-4 in crazy match (video highlights). Skála lose to Víkingur and are relegated. B71 draw against B68 but must win both remaining matches to avoid relegation. KÍ Klaksvík beat ÍF who both look safe. HB Tórshavn hold on to 2nd place after beating NSÍ Runavík.

September 29, 2008: National team news:
Faroe Islands coach Jógvan Martin Olsen resigns.

September 27 & 28, 2008: Round 24 of the Formula Division:
EB/Streymur still not champions as they draw with NSÍ Runavík. Two Rasmus Nolsøe freekick-specials lift HB Tórshavn to runners-up spot. KÍ Klaksvík still in relegation troubles as they lose to B68 Toftir with an owngoal. Skála all but relegated as they draw with ÍF Fuglafjørður who equalize late in the match.

September 27, 2008: Faroese news from Iceland
Símun Samuelsen's lead-goal for Keflavík not enough for the title as they are pipped by FH Hafnarfjørður on the last day of the season. However, Faroese woman-goalkeeper Randi Wardum wins the Icelandic title with her Icelandic club Valur.

September 21, 2008: Round 23 of the Formula Division:
ÍF Fuglafjørður rue missed penalty as they are beaten by HB Tórshavn. KÍ Klaksvík beat B71 Sandoy in the vital bottom-match while Skála look almost certain do go down as they lose to B68. EB/Streymur are on the verge of clinching the title as they beat Víkingur (video highlights).

September 14 & 15, 2008: Round 22 of the Formula Division:
EB/Streymur are beaten at home for the first time this season as they are downed by early ÍF Fuglafjørður penalty. Are EB/Streymur getting nervous in the title run-in? (video highlights). B68 score twice at home for the first time this season to beat HB Tórshavn. KÍ Klaksvík in deep trouble as they lose to B36 Tórshavn while B71 Sandoy beat Skála.

September 10, 2008: World Cup 2010 Qualifier, Group 7:
Against a very defensive Faroese team, Rumania scored the single goal of the game with 10 men 10 minutes into the second half. Only in the last 10 minutes did the Faroe Islands put any pressure on the Rumanian goal.

September 09, 2008: U21 Qualifying round:
Faroe Islands under-21 lose their final match with a single goal away to Greece.

September 08, 2008: Formula Division news:
KÍ Klaksvík coach Eyðun Klakstein quits. Former KÍ coach Petur Mohr is named new coach.

September 06, 2008: World Cup 2010 Qualifier, Group 7:
The Faroe Islands kick off their qualifying campaign for the 2010 World Cup with a 2-0 defeat to Serbia (video of goals, low quality).

September 06, 2008: U21 Qualifying round:
Faroe Islands U21 earn a draw in Azerbaijan.

Sep. 01 & Aug. 31, 2008: Round 21 of the Formula Division:
Skála are still breathing as they beat KÍ Klaksvík who are living dangerously. HB Tórshavn score 6 again, this time against B71 Sandoy. EB/Streymur make it 10 out of 10 at home (video highlights).

August 27, 2008: Round 19 of the Formula Division:
EB/Streymur's dynamic duo Arnbjørn Hansen and Hans Pauli Samuelsen score two goals each, as EB/Streymur beat KÍ Klaksvík 4-2 (video highlights). Andrew av Fløtum makes a hat trick as HB Tórshavn beat Skála who look doomed. ÍF get 3 massive points as they beat B36 Tórshavn. NSÍ Runavík beat B71 who stay under the line, but only 3 points adrift of KÍ who drop to 8th. B68 are close to safety as they beat Víkingur.

August 24, 2008: Round 20 of the Formula Division:
EB/Streymur edge closer and closer to the titile, but today they had to come from behind to beat bottom team B71 Sandoy.

August 20, 2008: Friendly International, Portugal vs. Faroe Islands
Portugal beat the Faroe Islands 5-0 with 3 of the goals coming in the last 5 minutes (video highlights).

August 19, 2008: August Round-Up:
Round 19 of the Formula Divison on Wednesday 20 August postponed to 27 August. Faroe Islands squad selection for the Portugal-friendly. ÍF Fuglafjørður part with coach David Jones. Goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen on loan to Motherwell.

August 17, 2008: Round 18 of the Formula Division:
HB Tórshavn beat a poor EB/Streymur team, but as EB/Streymur's closest challengers, B36 Tórshavn, also lose, the loss has little bearing on EB/Streymur’s position in the table where they still have an 8-point gap down to B36.

August 10 & 11, 2008: Round 17 of the Formula Division:
EB/Streymur beat Skála 3-0 and march on towards the title (video highlights). Skála and B71 Sandoy isolated at the bottom.

August 06, 2008: Round 16 of the Formula Division:
The Formula Division resumes. EB/Streymur back on track; beat NSÍ Runavík to open the gap to 8 points again (video highlights).

July 31, 2008, UEFA Cup, 1st qualifying round, 2nd leg:
EB/Streymur managed to hold Manchester City from scoring in the 1st half - not least because of René Tórgarð's heroics between the posts -, but in the 2nd half City got an early goal before they added one in stoppage time (video highlights).
B36 Tórshavn kept the dream of overcoming Brøndby in the UEFA Cup alive in the first half by holding the visitors to 0-0, but when Brøndby scored early in the 2nd half, the tie was effectively decided because of the away-goal rules.

July 24, 2008: Transfer News:
More transfer news was not expected at this time, as the transfer window closed on Monday, but today the news broke that Rógvi Jacobsen, the all-time record goalscorer for the Faroe Islands with 10 goals, has joined KÍ Klaksvík from Norvegian club IL Hødd.

July 22, 2008, UEFA Champions League, 1st qualifying round, 2nd leg:
NSÍ played a terrific match on Gundadalur's artificial grass in Tórshavn to win 1-0 against Georgian champions, Dinamo Tbilisi, but still bow out after losing 3-1 on aggregate.

July 22, 2008: Transfer News:
The transfer window closed on Monday 21 July at midnight, and several transfers were announced yesterday - some high-profile, such as Jákup á Borg has left HB Tórshavn in favour of B36 Tórshavn. We’ll take a look at the most important transfers that have taken place since our last transfer update on 5 July.

July 17, 2008, UEFA Cup, 1st qualifying round, 1st leg:
B36 Tórshavn are still in with a chance after losing only 1-0 away to Brøndby while EB/Streymur get away with a respectable 2-0 defeat against Manchester City (Video highlights from both matches).

July 16, 2008, UEFA Champions League, 1st qualifying round, 1st leg:
NSÍ Runavík minimize (if that term can be used at all) defeat to Georgian champions, Dinamo Tbilisi, to 3-0.

July 10, 12 & 13, 2008: Round 15 of the Formula Division:
The title race is open again as EB/Streymur lose for the 3rd time in succession. B71 Sandoy beat B68 Toftir and climb above the relegation line. NSÍ Runavík beat HB Tórshavn and provisionally close the gab on leaders EB/Streymur to 5 points.

July 04 - 06, 2008: Round 14 of the Formula Division:
HB close the gap to leaders EB/Streymur to 7 points. EB/Streymur lose for the second time in succession. Are they running out of steam? NSÍ miss the chance to close the gap to league leaders EB/Streymur to 5 points as Víkingur comes from behind with two goals in two minutes.

July 05, 2008: Transfer News:
As the transfer window has been open since 16 June, most clubs have been active in the transfer market. Some high-profile moves and some less noticeable. We'll feature some of the most important in this round up; also that Christian Mouritsen is deemed surplus at Manchester City. But first: The Faroe Islands will face Portugal in a friendly in August.

June 28, 29 & 30 & July 02, 2008: Round 13 of the Formula Division:
3 vital points for ÍF Fuglafjørður who outplay HB Tórshavn in the 2nd half. 3 massive points for Skála as they beat B68 Toftir. Víkingur becomes the first team to beat EB/Streymur! 3 vital points for B71 Sandoy. 4th consecutive win for NSÍ Runavík as they beat B36 Tórshavn.

July 01, 2008: Champions League and UEFA Cup Draw:
EB/Streymur face Manchester City while B36 Tórshavn take on Danish side Brøndby in the UEFA Cup. Champions NSÍ Runavík meet Georgian outfit Dinamo Tbilisi in the Champions League.

June 28, 2008, UEFA Intertoto Cup, first round, second leg:
HB hold Elfsborg to 0-0 draw in the Intertoto Cup.

June 22, 23 & 25, 2008: Round 12 of the Formula Division:
HB move up to 2nd spot in the table again after after a - in the end - narrow 2-1 win over Skála. ÍF-owngoal rescues a point for B36. EB/Streymur snatch victory in stoppage time against KÍ Klaksvík.

June 23, 2008: International News:
Austrian coach Josef Hickersberger has decided to retire as coach for the Austrian national team before the re-encounter with the Faroe Islands in October, 2008. Is he fearing a repeat of the 1990 result?

June 22, 2008, UEFA Intertoto Cup, first round, first leg:
Relive the whole match on video
Not much resistance from HB Tórshavn as they go down 1-4 to Elfsborg in the first leg of the first round of the UEFA Intertoto Cup.

June 18 & 19, 2008: Round 11 of the Formula Division:
NSÍ are back in contention for the runners-up spot with a 2-0 win over B68. HB Tórshavn lose and drop to 3rd, B36 Tórshavn draw and move to 2nd, while runaway leaders EB/Streymur win and increase their lead in the table to 9 points (Video Highlights).

June 14, 2008: The Cup Competition – The Final:
Video Highlights of the Cup Final
EB/Streymur win the Cup for the 2nd time in succession after beating B36 Tórshavn 3-2.

June 08 & 09, 2008: Round 10 of the Formula Division:
EB/Streymur go 7 points clear. HB Tórshavn throw away a 2-goal advantage in the 2nd half against B71 Sandoy.

June 04, 2008: Friendly International, Estonia vs. Faroe Islands
New video from different angle.
Incredible fightback from the Faroe Islands as they turn 0-3 to 3-3 in 7 minutes, but still lose 4-3 however (Video highlights).

May 28, 2008: Round 09 of the Formula Division:
Top 3 all win, while bottom 2 lose.

May 23 & 25, 2008: Round 08 of the Formula Division:
EB/Streymur open up a 5-point gap in the table as Arnbjørn Hansen's predatory instincts secure EB/Streymur the victory over HB in stoppage-time (Video highlights). Champions NSÍ trow away a 2-goal lead against Skála at the end, and look to be out of the title race as they drop 9 points below EB/Streymur. B68 climb to an impressive 5th, as they beat ÍF Fuglafjørður. B71 get more and more isolated in the bottom, today they lost 1-0 to B36. KÍ looked to have wrapped up the points when they were leading 3-1 in the 2nd half, but Víkingur staged a great fight back to salvage a point.

May 24, 2008: The Cup Final:
The Cup Final brought forward from Sunday to Saturday.

May 17 & 18, 2008: Round 07 of the Formula Division:
With star-forwards starting on the bench, HB are back to winning ways as they beat champions NSÍ. ÍF led 2-0 at half-time, but EB/Streymur took only 5 minutes to level after the break, before they won the match on a penalty (or two...) (Video highlights). KÍ win against B36 who lose their first match in their first match away from home. B71 are rooted to the bottom as they lose against fellow strugglers B68. Skála stay under the line after 1-1 draw against Víkingur.

May 12, 2008: The Cup competition, semifinals, 2nd leg:
Hungarian duo takes B36 through to the Cup final, after beating HB 2-1. EB/Streymur secure their place in the final with late winner over B71, who had taken the lead (Video highlights).

May 04 - 06, 2008: Round 06 of the Formula Division:
For the 3rd time in succession, HB fail to score as they are held by Víkingur. EB/Streymur beat NSÍ to take top spot in the table. B71 drop below the relegation line again as they are beaten by ÍF. B68 and KÍ draw, as do B36 and Skála in dull stalemate.

April 30, 2008: Round 05 of the Formula Division:
EB/Streymur beat Víkingur to pull level with HB who are held by B36 in the Tórshavn-stalemate. Drama as NSÍ with two penalties come from behind to beat ÍF, who with 9 men miss last gasp penalty for 3-3 equalizer. B71 take early lead, but lose to KÍ while B68 edge past Skála.

April 25 & 27, 2008: Round 04 of the Formula Division:
HB drop their first points of the season while B68 get their first point in dull stalemate. ÍF were winning against KÍ, but have to settle for a draw in the end. B71 come from behind to beat Skála, while B36 and EB/Streymur draw. Víkingur bounce back from two successive defeats to beat champions NSÍ Runavík.

April 21, 2008: UEFA Intertoto Cup draw:
HB Tórshavn meet Swedish side Elfsborg in the UEFA Intertoto Cup.

April 19 & 20, 2008: Round 02 of the Formula Division:
HB Tórshavn come from behind to beat KÍ Klaksvík and open up a 2-point gap in the table, as EB/Streymur throw a 2-goal lead overboard against 10-men B71 Sandoy. B36 Tórshavn edge past Víkingur, and ÍF Fuglafjørður won their 2nd game in succession with Dave Jones in charge as they beat Skála. B68 Toftir still with 0 points after losing 2-0 to NSÍ Runavík in the local derby.

April 16, 2008: The Cup competition, semifinals, 1st leg:
Everything still to play for as 10-men B36 Tórshavn hold HB Tórshavn, and B71 Sandoy grab a late equalizer against EB/Streymur.

April 10 - 13, 2008: Round 03 of the Formula Division:
EB/Streymur (Video highlights) and HB Tórshavn keep up their 100% records, while KÍ is rooted to the bottom of the table after losing against Skála. ÍF Fuglafjørður with new coach, former star-player from 1979 David Jones, beat neighbours Víkingur. B36 Tórshavn had champions NSÍ Runavík on their knees in the last 25 minutes of the match, but a combination of poor finishing from B36 and great goalkeeping from Tórður Thomsen in the NSÍ goal, salvaged a point for NSÍ.

April 12, 2008: Atlantic Cup 2008:
Valur Reykjavík - NSÍ Runavík 5-2 (2-1).
Heavy loss for NSÍ against the Icelandic champions, and something suggests that the gap between Faroese and Icelandic football is growing again.

April 11, 2008: Atlantic Cup 2008:
Update 2: Valur vs. NSÍ, changed back to SATURDAY, 12 April!
Update 1: Valur vs. NSÍ, Atlantic Cup played on Sunday, 13 April!
April 08: NSÍ Runavík meet Icelandic champions Valur Reykjavík in the Atlantic Cup on 12 April, 2008. Therefore NSÍ - B36, round 3, is brought forward to 10 April, and is now B36 - NSÍ.

April 07, 2008: The Cup competition:
Tórshavn neighbours, HB and B36 meet in the cup semi-finals. B71 Sandoy take on holders EB/Streymur for a place in the final.

April 07, 2008: Round 02 of the Formula Division:
The 2nd round matches of the Formula Division, which were supposed to be played on April 5th and 6th, have been rescheduled for April 19th and 20th.

April 06, 2008: Round 02 of the Formula Division:
All of the 2nd round's matches have been postponed due to snow.

April 05, 2008: Round 02 of the Formula Division:
The match between B68 Toftir and NSÍ Runavík today has been postponed due to snow. Sunday's matches are also in doubt.

April 02, 2008: The Cup competition:
B36 Tórshavn come from behind to win on penalties over 1st division side 07 Vestur. HB Tórshavn and B71 Sandoy win comfortably over 1 division sides TB Tvøroyri and AB Argir, respectively. And EB/Streymur beat KÍ for the 2nd time in 4 days (Video highlights) .

April 02, 2008: The Cup competition:
Results and goalsscorers from the quarter-finals of the Cup.

March 29 - 31, 2008: Round 01 of the Formula Division:
Víkingur get off to a flying start as they beat newcomers B68 Toftir 4-1. HB Tórshavn and EB/Streymur (Video highlights) win comfortably over weak opposition, but defending champions NSÍ Runavík had to come from behind to beat B71 Sandoy who rue the miss of a late penalty. B36 Tórshavn beat 10-men ÍF Fuglafjørður 4-0 in the 2008 Formula Division opener.

March 28, 2008: Formula Division 2008 Preview:
The Faroe Islands football league 2008, the Formula Division, gets underway on Saturday, 29 March. But who is the favorite to claim the title this season and who will be relegated?

March 26, 2008: The Cup competition:
Quarter finals have been rescheduled for Wednesday 2 April.

March 24, 2008: The Cup competition:
Quarter finals have been postponed until further notice because of snow.

March 20 & 22, 2008: The Cup competition:
Cup-holders EB/Streymur oust Champions NSÍ Runavík in Round 1 of the Cup competition which was marred by appalling weather - strong wind and snow - and 3 of the 8 matches were not completed.

March 16, 2008: Friendly International, Iceland vs. Faroe Islands
A miserable afternoon in Iceland as the Faroes Islands lose by 3 goals in the Kórinn indoor arena in Kópavogur.

March 08, 2008: Super Cup:
Last season's champions NSÍ Runavík beat Cup winners EB/Streymur 4-0 in the Super Cup.

February 29, 2008: February Round-Up:

February 26, 2008: The draw for the 2008 Cup competition:
Cup-holders EB/Streymur meet champions NSÍ Runavík in round 1 of the 2008 Cup competition.

January 31, 2008: January Round-Up:
In this month's round-up: Gundadalur's artificial grass gets FIFA approval. Bobble hat keeper Jens Martin Knudsen becomes assistand coach for the Faroe Islands. Súni Olsen joins Danish Superliga club Viborg FF. The new merged club of Gí Gøta and LÍF Leivík will announce its new name. And a ton of more transfer news!
