June 08 & 09, 2008: Round 10 of the Formula Division:

June 08:

B36 Tórshavn - Víkingur 3-0 (1-0)
1-0 Karoly Potemkin
2-0 Bergur Midjord
3-0 Karoly Potemkin

The result suggests an empathic win, but maybe the scoreline flatters B36 a bit. But as always, B36 kept tight at the back, which produced their 6th clean sheet of the season, and as they at the same time were more effective than Víkingur at the other, 3-0 became the end result.

Hungarian Karoly Potemkin, who hadn´t scored since his double in the first round (but missed a ton of clear-cut opportunities since) gave B36 the lead midway through the first half.

13 minutes into the 2nd half, Bergur Midjord increased the lead with a very good shot before Potemkin sealed victory 8 minutes from time. In between the goals, B36´s Hanus Thorleifsson was sent off. He will therefor miss the Cup final on Saturday, when B36 take on EB/Streymur.

With the 3 points, B36 are now joint 2nd in the table with HB who have a superior goal difference.

ÍF Fuglafjørður - NSÍ Runavík 0-3 (0-2)
0-1 Hjalgrím Elttør
0-2 Milan Pejcic
0-3 Hjalgrím Elttør

After a great run of results after David Jones was appointed coach at ÍF, their honeymoon seems to be over now, as ÍF suffered their 4th loss in a row today.

NSÍ took the lead after 25 minutes with a terrific shot from Hjalgrím Elttør from the edge of the penalty area. After 39 minutes, Serbian player Milan Pejcic doubled the lead with his first league goal for NSÍ, when he curled the free kick into the top corner.

And 5 minutes from the final whistle, Hjalgrím Elttør increased to 3-0 with his 2nd goal of the afternoon with a thunderous volley.

ÍF must soon begin to pick up some points again, or they could suddenly be caught by Skála again, who are only 3 points adrift in 9th place.

KÍ Klaksvík - Skála 0-0

Neither KÍ nor Skála could break the deadlock, and therefore produced the 5th scoreless draw of the season so far (last season there were only 3 in total).

But clubs could do with more than the odd point, especially Skála, but also KÍ are in dare need of points as they just don´t seem to be able to distance themselves from the relegation zone.

B71 Sandoy - HB Tórshavn 2-2 (0-2)
0-1 Páll Mohr Joensen
0-2 Páll Mohr Joensen
1-2 Gudmund Nielsen
2-2 Gudmund Nielsen

HB suffered a setback by only drawing with B71 and could drop 7 points behind leaders EB/Streymur, if EB/Streymur beat B68 in tomorrow's match.

But that scenario looked unlikely when Páll Mohr Joensen put HB 2-0 up shortly before the break with a shot from just outside the penalty area with his 2nd goal of the match. After 18 he had scored the opener with a direct free kick.

In between the goals, HB were reduced to 10 men when captain and central defender Fróði Benjaminsen was sent off, and in the second half, HB were made to pay as B71 levelled the score within a quarter of an hour. Gudmund Nielsen scored both goals.

Both teams had chances to get the winner (HB missed a last gasp sitter), but the match ended 2-2.

For HB, the 2 points dropped could prove very costly, as EB/Streymur will have a glorious chance to increase the lead at the top to 7 points id they beat B68 on Monday evening. 7 points could become very difficult to win back for HB.

For B71, every point is precious, but the 1-pointers help very little when you are in the bottom of the table. B71 are still 5 points adrift of ÍF in 8th place.

June 09:

B68 Toftir - EB/Streymur 0-3 (0-1)
0-1 Arnbjørn Hansen
0-2 Arnbjørn Hansen
0-3 Bárður Olsen

EB/Streymur took full advantage of HB's drop of points yesterday by emphatically beating B68 3-0 in tonighs's match. Formula Division top scorer Arnbjørn Hansen scored twice to get his scoring record "correct" again, so that he has now scored 10 goals in 10 matches.

Tonight, Hansen scored the the opener after 16 minutes in connection with a corner. And only 5 minutes into the second half, Hansen was at it again, scoring with his head from another corner. And just a minute later, Bárður Olsen made it 3-0 with a long range effort.

On Saturday, EB/Streymur face B36 Tórshavn in the Cup final in Gundadalur Stadium in Tórshavn.
