Champions NSÍ Runavík beat Cup winners EB/Streymur 4-0 in the Super Cup

NSÍ Runavík – EB/Streymur 4-0 (0-0)
1-0 Jónhard Frederiksberg
2-0 Óli Hansen
3-0 Øssur Dalbúð
4-0 Sjúrður Jacobsen

After an even first half with few scoring opportunities, a stupid red card for EB/Streymur's Mikkjal Thomassen just before the half time whistle cost EB/Streymur dearly in the second half as they couldn't deal with NSÍ's advantage.

Although the first half was mostly a very even contest with few scoring opportunities, maybe EB/Streymur just had a slight edge in the first 10-15 minutes when they made some good passing moves, but halfway through the first half, EB/Streymur's goalkeeper René Tórgarð was stretched to parry a shot from the distance.

Shortly before the half time whistle, EB/Streymur's Mikkjal Thomasen's temper boiled over once again and Thomassen received a direct red card (he had already received a yellow earlier in the match), and this clearly took its toll on the second half.

Some 10 minutes into the second half, Jónhard Frederiksberg slid in front of goalkeeper René Tórgarð to steer the long cross from the right into the goal.

Ten minutes later, Tórgarð made a superb one-handed save to deny Frederiksberg's header, but from the following corner, Óli Hansen's header from the goal-line made it 2-0.

Two goals down, and with the important match in the Cup on 20 March between the same teams, EB/Streymur were never going to wholeheartedly try to make a comeback.

Some 10 minutes before the final whistle, Øssur Dalbúð was played clear and he rounded the keeper to make it 3-0 before Sjúrður Jacobsen made it 4-0 to NSÍ.

All proceeds from the match went to the charity organization Lions Club.
