"The operation was a success, but the patient died", could be a fitting description from a Faroese perspective after a narrow 1-0 defeat by FYR Macedonia today.

October 01-31, 2011: October Round-Up:
Brian Kerr steps down as Faroe Islands national coach. Dane Lars Olsen emerges as current frontrunner for the vacant job.
The oldest club in the Faroe Islands, TB Tvøroyri, are promoted after intense drama where they get the all-important 11th (!) goal against EB/Streymur on penalty more than six minutes into added time to pip AB Argir who concedes a last gasp goal against FC Hoyvík which cost them dearly.
The Faroese Under21 team against Denmark on Friday 7 October.

October 25, 2011: Player of the Year Awards 2011:
B36 Tórshavn's Polish striker Lukasz Cieslewicz is named player of the year 2011.

October 22, 2011: Round 27 of the Vodafone Division:
B36 Tórshavn underline their supremacy this season as they come back from two goals down to beat HB Tórshavn 3-2 in the Tórshavn derby in the last round of the season.

October 16, 2011: Round 26 of the Vodafone Division:
Polish striker Lukasz Cieslewicz secures B36 Tórshavn the title with the winning goal over NSÍ Runavík 10 minutes from time.
HB Tórshavn are downed by KÍ Klaksvík once again, but survive as B68 Toftir beat 07 Vestur who will be relegated.
EB/Streymur end as runners up as they scrape past relegated B71 Sandoy. Finnur Justinussen scores a hat trick to break three goals clear on the top of the top scorer list as Víkingur beat ÍF Fuglafjørður 4-0.

October 09 and 12, 2011: Round 25 of the Vodafone Division:
B36 close in on the title with a 3-2 win over 07 Vestur and need only one win in their two remaining fixtures to claim the title as EB/Streymur only manage a 3-3 draw against Víkingur (video). HB Tórshavn are still not safe from relegation as they lose to NSÍ Runavík, but ÍF Fuglafjørður are safe after a 1-0 win over B68 Toftir who are not safe. KÍ Klaksvík beat B71 Sandoy in added time.

October 7, 2011: U21 Qualifying round:
After a very bright start from the Faroese team with several attempts on goal inside the first quarter of an hour, Denmark scored twice in the space of two minutes to virtually put the game beyond doubt, and with two more goals in the second half, Denmark win 4-0.

October 01 and 02, 2011: Round 24 of the Vodafone Division:
HB Tórshavn take a giant leap away from relegation after comfortable win over 07 Vestur who look doomed. EB/Streymur keep up the pressure on B36 Tórshavn with their 10th victory in a row as they beat ÍF Fuglafjørður for the second time in 4 days while Víkingur's title aspirations definitely come to an end as they are defeated by NSÍ Runavík. B36 Tórshavn score last gasp winner on penalty against B71 Sandoy to stay decisively in front of EB/Streymur. KÍ Klaksvík are virtually safe from relegation as they beat B68 Toftir 5-3.

September 29, 2011: Round 15 of the Vodafone Division:
EB/Streymur scrape past ÍF Fuglafjørður in the postponed 15th round match from August to close the gap on leaders B36 Tórshavn to only two points (video).

September 23 & 25, 2011: Round 23 of the Vodafone Division:
Current champions HB Tórshavn desperately close to relegation as they are trashed 7-1 by ÍF Fuglafjørður. EB/Streymur keep alive their title-hopes with a 2-1 over B36 Tórshavn in the top clash. KÍ Klaksvík take 3 vital points against NSÍ Runavík, while B68 should be safe after a comfortable 3-0 over B71 Sandoy. 07 Vestur, who have cost Víkingur dearly twice previously in the season, are no match for Víkingur who win 5-1.

September 18 & 19, 2011: Round 22 of the Vodafone Division:
Nigerian magic takes ÍF Fuglafjørður above the relegation-line as they beat NSÍ Runavík. With a 2-2 draw against HB Tórshavn, Víkingur's title challenge seems to have come to an end as they drop six points behind leaders B36 Tórshavn who beat B68 Toftir. EB/Streymur, who beat KÍ Klaksvík, are therefore the main challengers to leaders B36 (video). Draw for 07 Vestur against B71 Sandoy could prove fatal in the end.

September 14, 2011: Round 21 of the Vodafone Division:
EB/Streymur keep title-hopes alive with a last gasp winner against HB Tórshavn in 7-goal thriller. No 1 and 2, B36 Tórshavn and Víkingur comfortably beat KÍ Klaksvík and B68 Toftir, respectably. ÍF Fuglafjørður establish contact with hope again with a win over B71 Sandoy while NSÍ Runavík egde past 07 Vestur to virtually ensure their spot in the Europa League next summer, providing that EB/Streymur don't become champions.

September 10 & 11, 2011: Round 20 of the Vodafone Division:
B68 Toftir edge past HB in uneventful encounter. Víkingur easily beat B71 Sandoy to stay in pursuit of leaders B36 Tórshavn who have it relatively easy against ÍF Fuglafjørður. 07 Vestur throw away a two-goal lead in the last 20 minutes of the match against KÍ Klaksvík. EB/Streymur stay in the title race as they demolish NSÍ Runavík 5-1 (Video).

September 06, 2011: UEFA Euro 2012 Qualifier, Group C:
Faroe Islands concede early goal and lose 3-1 in the end after 2-1 at half time after Fróði Benjaminsen pulled a goal back for the Faroe Islands (5-minute video).

Faroe Islands lead against Serbia for 10 minutes, but lose 5-1 in the end.

Faroe Islands coach Brian Kerr has named his 18-man team for the European championship qualifier against Northern Ireland on Wednesday. Also the Under-21 team, who also play Northern Ireland on the same day, has been selected.

August 26-28, 2011: Round 19 of the Vodafone Division:
NSÍ Runavík beat B68 Toftir as top scorer Klæmint Olsen finally scores again to secure NSÍ Runavík their first win since round 12 when Olsen scored his last goal. HB Tórshavn break out of the relegation zone - at least for a while - with an easy 5-0 win over B71 Sandoy. KÍ Klaksvík earned the massive three points at stake to take them 5 points clear of their opponents ÍF Fuglafjørður in 9th place and heading for relegation. EB/Streymur leave it late again against 07 Vestur, but are still in with an outside chance of winning the title. B36 Tórshavn open up a 4-point gap after beating Víkingur in the top clash.

August 21, 2011: Round 18 of the Vodafone Division:
Unchanged between the top 3 as B36 Tórshavn come from 0-2 and 2-3 down to win 4-3 against NSÍ and Víkingur edge past ÍF Fuglafjørður while EB/Streymur snatch the winner against B71 Sandoy in added time. At the other end of the table HB Tórshavn goalkeeper Teitur Gestsson scores added-time equalizer against KÍ Klaksvík.

August 14, 2011: Round 17 of the Vodafone Division:
B36 Tórshavn lose for the first time this season as they are beaten by EB/Streymur who could get back into the title race if they win their game in hand against ÍF Fuglafjørður. HB Tórshavn snatch a late win to climb above the relegation-line while opponents ÍF Fuglafjørður drop below.

August 14, 2011: Round 16 of the Vodafone Division:
Status quo at the top of the table as B36 Tórshavn beat B68 Toftir while Víkingur beat relegation threatened HB Tórshavn. 10-men EB/Streymur beat KÍ Klaksvík thanks to Arnbjørn Hansen's 7th hat trick in the top division since his first full season for the senior team in 2006. B71 Sandoy not giving up yet as they record their second win in succession with a 2-0 win over 07 Vestur. The situation is still critical for losing cup finalists ÍF Fuglafjørður as they draw with NSÍ Runavík who look set to end in 4th spot in the table.

August 10, 2011: UEFA Euro 2012 Qualifier, Group C:
Faroe Islands still struggle away from home as they are defeated 4-0 by Northern Ireland (video).

August 10, 2011: U21 Qualifying round:
Faroe Islands downed 4-0 by Northern Ireland who score three in seven minutes.

July 26-29 & August 6, 2011: Round 14 of the Vodafone Division:
Rare win for B71 Sandoy as they beat KÍ Klaksvík who seem to have run out of breath.
Stalemate between HB Tórshavn and NSÍ Runavík. B36 Tórshavn claw their way back to the top with late winner from Lukasz Cieslewicz against 07 Vestur. Víkingur beat EB/Streymur 3-1 to take provisional top spot in the table. ÍF Fuglafjørður climb above the relegation line with a 3-1 win over B68 Toftir who instead drop below the line.

August 05, 2011: The Cup Competition – The Final:
4th cup triumph for EB/Streymur in 5 years as they beat ÍF Fuglafjørður 3-0.

August 01 & 02, 2011: Round 15 of the Vodafone Division:
HB Tórshavn drop below the relegation line after defeat to 07 Vestur who climb from 9th to 5th in an extremely tight bottom half of the table where only two points separate 5 teams. B71 Sandoy's fight-back from two goals down ends in vain as B36 Tórshavn snatch a late winner. Víkingur keep up the pressure on leaders B36 with a 1-0 win away to NSÍ Runavík. B68 Toftir jump above the relegation-line with a 3-0 win over KÍ Klaksvík who are getting sucked into the relegation battle.

ÍF Fuglafjørður take the lead against KR Reykjavík, but lose 3-1 in the end. Respectable 3-0 defeat for NSÍ Runavík away to Fulham F.C. (video).

June 24 - 26, 2011: Round 13 of the Vodafone Division:
Although HB Tórshavn levelled to 1-1 midway through the second half, B36 had the extra gear to win 3-1 in the end and reclaim top spot in the table which Víkingur had occupied for 22 hours. 07 Vestur climbed above the relegation with a 1-0 win over ÍF Fuglafjørður who drop below the line. NSÍ Runavík - playing Fulham on Thursday - are held to 1-1 draw by rock bottom B71 Sandoy. Víkingur score later winner against KÍ Klaksvík to take provisional top spot in the table. Two-goal fight back in vain for B68 Toftir as EB/Streymur grab victory on a penalty to keep up the pressure on leaders B36 Tórshavn (video).

20-year old Høgni Eysturoy drafted into Faroese squad | 07 Vestur sack coach Jógvan Hendrik Samuelsen and replace him with Jóhan Nielsen. ÍF Fuglafjørður appoint Rúni Nolsøe and Símun Eliasen as coaches to replace Abraham Løkin who resigned.

June 18 & 19, 2011: Round 12 of the Vodafone Division:
Hat trick for Cieslewicz as B36 Tórshavn beat KÍ Klaksvík to stay 2 points in front of Vikingur who beat B68 Toftir. 07 Vestur come back from 3-0 down to level at 4-4 against NSÍ Runavík who still snatch victory at the death in 10-goal thriller. Although EB/Streymur missed three(!) first half penalties, they still managed to comfortably beat HB Tórshavn who took the lead on a penalty of their own in the first minute of the game (video). ÍF Fuglafjørður beat B71 in the bottom of the table clash.

June 14, 2011: Cup Semi-finals, 2nd leg:
EB/Streymur go through to their 5th successive cup final after 5-goal thriller against B68 Toftir (video) while last year's losing cup finalists ÍF Fuglafjørður go through on the away goals rule after losing to 07 Vestur.

June 11 & 13, 2011: Round 11 of the Vodafone Division:
Víkingur beat B71 Sandoy to close the gap on leaders B36 Tórshavn. B68 come back from 2-0 and 3-2 down against HB Tórshavn to salvage a point. B36 are held to a draw by ÍF Fuglafjørður who equalize in added time. With a 2-2 draw, NSÍ Runavík and EB/Streymur (video) fail to take advantage of B36's draw earlier on the day. 07 Vestur beat KÍ Klaksvík and leapfrog ÍF Fuglafjørður to move out of the relegation zone.

The Faroe Islands win their first European qualifier for 16 years as they beat Estonia 2-0 (video of goals included).

Daniel Udsen scores four as EB/Streymur climb to 3rd in the table with a 7-1 rout over 07 Vestur. B68 Toftir and NSÍ Runavík draw. KÍ virtually book their place in next season's top flight as they beat troubled ÍF Fuglafjørður. Champions HB Tórshavn finally win again, but they need more than an hour to break down rock bottom B71 Sandoy.

May 22 & 23, 2011: Round 09 of the Vodafone Division:
Víkingur move into second place, a point adrift of leaders B36, after beating ÍF Fuglafjørður. EB/Streymur easily beat B71 Sandoy 5-1 (Video). B36 Tórshavn beat NSÍ Runavík with two penalties and a free kick to come out victorious in the top of the table clash. HB Tórshavn lose for the third time in succession as they are downed 4-1 by KÍ Klaksvík. B68 Toftir beat 07 Vestur in the dying minutes. EB/Streymur - B71 Sandoy postponed to Monday.

May 19, 2011: Cup Semi-finals, 1st leg:
Everything still to play for after stalemate in the first leg of the cup competition between between B68 Toftir and EB/Streymur while ÍF Fuglafjørður have a one-goal advantage going into the second leg with a 90th minute winner against 07 Vestur.

May 15 & 16, 2011: Round 08 of the Vodafone Division:
07 Vestur take a gigantic leap towards survival with a dramatic win over ÍF. B36 crush HB to stay on top of the table – one point ahead of NSÍ and Víkingur who beat B71 and KÍ, respectively. EB/Streymur disappoint again as they are beaten by B68.

May 11 & 12, 2011: Round 07 of the Vodafone Division:
NSÍ Runavík fail to take top spot in the table as they draw with ÍF Fuglafjørður. HB Tórshavn no match for Víkingur. B36 Tórshavn throw away a two-goal lead to draw with B68 Toftir. EB/Streymur back on track with a 2-0 win over KÍ Klaksvík (video). 07 Vestur record their first victory of the season with a 2-1 win over fellow strugglers B71 Sandoy.

B36 Tórshavn stay on top of the table as the beat KÍ Klaksvík in a dull topmatch. NSÍ Runavík run riot to rout strugglers 07 Vestur 9-0. HB Tórshavn scrape past EB/Streymur. B71 Sandoy produce the biggest surprise of the season as they beat ÍF Fuglafjørður. Víkingur come from behind to beat B68 Toftir.

May 05, 2011: Quarter-finals of the Cup competition:
Cup holders EB/Streymur comfortably beat NSÍ Runavík (video highlights). B68 Toftir advance to the semi-finals in dramatic fashion by beating Víkingur on penalties. 07 Vestur narrowly beat KÍ Klaksvík while ÍF Fuglafjørður beat 1st division side AB Argir 7-1 after 1-1 at half time.

April 29 & 30, 2011: Round 05 of the Vodafone Division:
B36 Tórshavn surge to the top of the table as they beat EB/Streymur while NSÍ Runavík come from behind to beat KÍ Klaksvík with late goal. Víkingur held to a 1-1 draw at home by 07 Vestur. HB Tórshavn miss 1st half penalty and are downed 3-0 in the second half by ÍF Fuglafjørður who were awarded two penalties in two minutes.

April 01-30, 2011: April Round-Up:
Faroese trio lift Icelandic league cup
It's time! The Vodafone Division starts with a bang on Saturday 9 April with a match between EB/Streynmur and Víkingur. Three equally exciting matches are on Sunday: NSÍ-HB, B71-KÍ, 07 Vestur-B36 and on Monday B68 take on ÍF. Rógvi Poulsen returns to HB Tórshavn from Crewe Alexandra. Jann Ingi Petersen returns to B68 Toftir.

April 25, 2011: Round 04 of the Vodafone Division:
KÍ Klaksvík stay on top of the table after rescuing a point with a late equalizer against 07 Vestur. EB/Streymur’s 100% record was broken as NSÍ earned a draw, having been behind twice. Two goals in two minutes as B36 Tórshavn and ÍF Fuglafjørður draw. B71 Sandoy concede 6 goals for the second time in 4 games as they are overrun by Víkingur. Goalkeeper Heðin Stenberg is the hero as 10-men HB Tórshavn escape with a goalless draw away to B68 Toftir.

April 20 & 21, 2011: Round 03 of the Vodafone Division:
KÍ klaksvík still top the table after a 1-0 win over ÍF Fuglaførður. EB/Streymur struggle to beat newcomers 07 Vestur. Víkingur grab an equalizer against B36 Tórshavn with a penalty deep into stoppage time. HB Tórshavn do enough to see off B71 Sandoy. NSÍ Runavík beat neighbours B68 Toftir 1-0 to keep their home record 100% intact.

April 15 - 17, 2011: Round 02 of the Vodafone Division:
Newly promoted KÍ Klaksvík stay on top of the table after crushing B68 Toftir. Also EB/Streymur and B36 Tórshavn have maximum points after comprehensive wins over ÍF Fuglafjørður and B71 Sandoy, respectively. Without having to sweat, HB Tórshavn beat 07 Vestur 5-0. 3 goals in 10 minutes earn Víkingur a 3-2 win over NSÍ Runavík.

April 09 - 11, 2011: Round 01 of the Vodafone Division:
ÍF Fuglafjørður beat B68 in 7-goal thriller. Champions HB lose again as NSÍ Runavík come from behind to snatch a late win. Newly promoted KÍ Klaksvík top the table after a 6-0 win over 9-men B71 Sandoy. B36 Tórshavn comfortably beat 07 Vestur. EB/Streymur beat Víkingur in the season opener.

The draw for the quarter-finals of the cup was staged this evening.

No real surprises in the 1st round of the cup, although champions HB Tórshavn crashed out of the competition after a 2-0 home-defeat to Víkingur (video from B36 - EB/Streymur).

Cup winners EB/Streymur easily beat champions HB Tórshavn 2-0 in the 2011 Super Cup.

Faroe Islands record goalscorer Rógvi Jacobsen retires | African strength to ÍF Fuglafjørður and 07 Vestur. Bitter blow for ÍF as winger Andy Olsen is ruled out for the season because of injury. Also Faroe Islands goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen could be out for up to a year after he has ruptured knee ligaments.
Shocking 3-0 win for Gibraltar against the Faroe Islands
Transfer window closed on Thursday 10 March, but no frantic last gasp signings. The Faroe Islands lose 3-1 twice to Finnish champions HJK Helsinki on their training camp in Marbella in Spain as the Faroes are covered with snow these days. Google thinks Chelsea have beaten the Faroe Islands 3-1!

March 07, 2011: The 2011 Cup draw was made on Moday evening
Defending cup winners EB/Streymur meet B36 Tórshavn away. HB Tórshavn entertain Víkingur. The only other Vodafone Dicision clash is between NSÍ Runavík and B71 Sandoy.
