4th cup triumph
for EB/Streymur in 5 years

August 05, 2011: The Cup Competition – The Final:
Played við Djúpumýru in Klaksvík

EB/Streymur - ÍF Fuglafjørður 3-0 (1-0)
1-0 Arnbjørn Hansen
2-0 Daniel Udsen (pen)
3-0 Arnbjørn Hansen

In a repeat of last year’s final between EB/Streymur and ÍF Fuglafjørður, the winner was again the same: EB/Streymur.

EB/Streymur took the lead after 10 minutes after winning the ball halfway up on ÍF’s half, where Pætur Dam Jacobsen played Hans Pauli Samuelsen who entered the penalty area and found a clear Arnbjørn Hansen who turned it in from close range.

Hansen could have doubled the lead 10 minutes later with a clear header, but the effort was wide of goal this time.

ÍF were close to the equalizer just before half time. First defender Bartal Eliasen’s effort went just wide of the far post from a clear position following a set piece and a couple of minutes later Dánjal á Lakjuni had a free sight of goal inside the penalty area, but René Tórgarð in the EB/Streymur goal made a fine save.

EB/Streymur doubled their lead 10 minutes after the break with a penalty from Daniel Udsen after the referee deemed that ÍF goalkeeper Jákup Mikkelsen had brought down Leif Niclasen who had been released by Daniel Udsen’s brilliant through-ball. Goalkeeper Mikkelsen was furious about the penalty-decision and claimed that his hand had been clean on the ball and that he didn´t bring down the player.

ÍF then had several opportunities to pull a goal back – for example EB/Streymur saved off the line twice.

But instead it was Arnbjørn Hansen who made it 3-0 in added time with an easy side-foot finish as he was played completely clear by Leif Niclasen, who was actually just as clear himself.
