August 21, 2011: Round 18 of the Vodafone Division:

KÍ Klaksvík - HB Tórshavn 2-2 (1-1)
0-1 Hanus Thorleifsson
1-1 Hjalgrím Elttør
2-1 Álvur F. Christiansen
2-2 Teitur Gestsson

KÍ looked set to take the three points when Álvur F. Christiansen scored on a rebound from HB goalkeeper Teitur Gestsson a couple of minutes before the end of normal time to make it 2-1 to the home team.

But high drama followed as it was no other than HB goalkeeper Gestsson who scored the equalizer deep into added time following a corner which he had come forward for. 19-year old Gestsson had been playing youth-football in Denmark for a couple of years before he joined HB in the summer break, but before he went abroad, he had been a KÍ-player. And to spice it a bit more, Gestsson is also son of former KÍ chairman Gestur Hovgaard.

However, it was HB who drew first blood after eight minutes through Hanus Thorleifsson who made an easy side-foot finish after great setup by Hallur Hansson.

HB had been the much better side when Hjalgrím Elttør drew level for KÍ after 15 minutes. Elttør’s initial free kick had hit the wall, but the rebound was fired into the back of the net in off the post.

After the equalizer it was KÍ who took control of events and had two or three qualified attempts where they either tested the goalkeeper or shot narrowly wide.

KÍ was also the better team for the most of the second half, but as they failed to make their two opportunities count - while HB had one decent opportunity – it looked like a draw until Christiansen made the home crowd ecstatic with his goal just a couple of minutes before half time.

- However, only to go down in the dumps again in added time when goalkeeper Gestsson equalized for HB.

B36 Tórshavn - NSÍ Runavík 4-3 (2-2)
0-1 Klæmint Olsen
0-2 Klæmint Olsen
1-2 Jákup á Borg
2-2 Símun Joensen
2-3 Jens Joensen
3-3 Heini í Skorini
4-3 Jonas Flindt Rasmussen

For the second time in succession NSÍ were leading 2-0 and 3-2 but still didn´t manage to win the game, and this time they even lost 4-3. Throwing such leads away could indicate that NSÍ in 4th place in the table only wants to do the funny part of the game which is going forward while they aren´t too eager to defend.

Before Klæmint Olsen gave NSÍ the lead just before the first quarter of an hour with a header, both teams had missed a sitter.

When Olsen then added a second goal to his and NSÍ’s tally with a fine lob over B36 goalkeeper Meinhardt Joensen after 20 minutes, it looked like B36 were going to surrender the lead on the top of the table after today’s round.

But tat wasn´t to be, however.

First Jákup á Borg pulled a goal back after 24 minutes and then Símun Joensen equalized five minutes before halftime. This was the left back’s 5th goal of the season.

The visitors restored their lead within three minutes of the second half when centre back Jens Joensen headed home from a free kick. Just before the goal, B36 had hit the crossbar at the other end.

But NSÍ’s lead only lasted for three minutes this time as Heini í Skorini restored parity.

And on 70 minutes it was big Danish defender Jonas Flindt Rasmussen who secured B36 the win with a powerful header from a corner.

With the win, B36 stay a point ahead of Víkingur. These two meet on Friday.

ÍF Fuglafjørður - Víkingur 1-2 (1-1)
0-1 Finnur Justinussen
1-1 Bartal Eliasen
1-2 Hanus Jacobsen

After Finnur Justinussen (Víkingur) and Bartal Eliasen (ÍF) had cancelled each other out after 20 minutes, Víkingur left it to the 81st minute before left back Hanus Jacobsen secured the three points for Víkingur after a fine pass from Kaj Leo í Bartalsstovu

Finnur Justinussen (who is now equal on the top of the scoring chart alongside Lukasz Cieslewicz (B36), Christian Høgni Jacobsen (NSÍ) and Klæmint Olsen (NSÍ)) gave Víkingur the lead after some ten minutes as he had been played clear by Sølvi Vatnhamar whose constant and good displays must sooner or later catch the eye of the national coach.

But the lead lasted only for a few minutes as Bartal Eliasen equalized for the relegation threatened home team.

Víkingur left it late, but 10 minutes from the end they scored the winning goal when Kaj Leo í Bartalsstovu dribbled on the right to set up left back Hanus Jacobsen for an easy side-foot finish to stay the sole point adrift B36 in the title hunt.

B71 Sandoy - EB/Streymur 1-2 (1-1)
0-1 Leif Niclasen
1-1 Bakary Bojang
1-2 Hans Pauli Samuelsen

As time had elapsed the 90 minutes, it looked like EB/Streymur’s title aspirations would take a blow as they were drawing 1-1 against the bottom team B71.

However, two minutes into added time Hans Pauli Samuelsen scored directly on a free kick to grab the three points.

Leif Niclasen had given EB/Streymur the lead just after the first quarter of an hour while Gambian born Danish forward Bakary Bojang equalized shortly before the half-hour.

B68 Toftir - 07 Vestur 1-1 (1-0)
1-0 Kristian Anton Andreassen
1-1 Eli Falkvard Nielsen

Kristian Anton Andreassen gave B68 the lead from long range after 15 minutes but 07 Vestur salvaged a point a quarter of an hour from the end directly on free kick from Eli Falkvard Nielsen. It was B68’s goalscorer Andreassen who had committed the free kick which also cost him the red card.
