October 30, 2005: Player of the Year Awards:

Goalkeeper Jákup Mikkelsen
Player of the Year

On Saturday night it was revealed that goalkeeper Jákup Mikkelsen of B36 Tórshavn had been voted as the Player of the Year in 2005. It's the first time a goalkeeper has won this award.

And of course, he was also voted as the best goalkeeper of the year.

With 12 clean sheets in 27 matches, Jákup Mikkselsen was arguably the main reason why B36 won the title. He has also been outstanding in the internationals, not least against France, where he made countless saves from Thierry Henry, among others.

Sigfríður Clementsen
Coach of the Year

The title Coach of the Year went to 32 years old Sigfríður Clementsen, who steered B36 to the championship title. B36 also got some very good result in the UEFA Cup, where they ousted IB Vestmannaeyjar from Iceland and were narrowly beaten by Danish Superliga side FC Midtjylland.

Ingi Højsted
Young Player of the Year

The Young Player of the Year award went to Ingi Højsted from B36. Ingi Højsted, who moved back to the Faroe Islands after a few years with Arsenal's youth divisions, played his first season in the Faroese first division this season, and has been in outstanding form for B36 dominating the midfield and has also won a place among the first eleven in the national side.

The votes were cast by the captains of the 10 First Division teams, the coaches and members of the press.

Golden Boot to
Christian Høgni Jacoben

The Golden Boot Award was handed to Christian Høgni Jacobsen of NSÍ Runavík, who became top scorer with 18 goals in a 27 round-league. Of those 27 matches, Christian Høgni played in 25.
