June 21 - 23, 2013:
Round 14 of the premier division "Effodeildin":

June 21

ÍF Fuglafjørður - Víkingur 2-1 (0-1)
0-1 Hjartvard Hansen

1-1 Poul N. Mikkelsen
2-1 Clayton Soares

ÍF moved to within four points of leaders HB Tórshavn after coming from behind – as usual – to beat Víkingur, but the gap might turn back to 7 points on Sunday again when HB visit 07 Vestur.

Víkingur  was the better team in the first half and took the lead after only 10 minutes when forward Finnur Justinussen set up Hjartvard Hansen for an easy tap-in.

However, going behind has not troubled ÍF this season as they have made countless comebacks, and they were to do it once again this evening.

The leveller came ten minutes after the break with a header from defender Poul N. Mikkelsen – goalkeeper Jákup Mikkelsen’s son – from a corner. And just six minutes later, Brazilian striker Clayton Soares headed in the winner for the home-team with his 7th goal of the season which makes him joint top scorer alongside Páll Klettskarð (KÍ) and Leif Niclasen (EB/Streymur).

June 22

B36 Tórshavn - NSÍ Runavík 3-1 (0-0)
1-0 Jákup á Borg
1-1 Klæmint Olssen
2-1 Benjamin Heinesen
3-1 Adeshina Lawal

With 8 draws in the previous 13 matches for B36 and another 5 for NSÍ, today’s match had a draw written all over it, and as the clock was approaching the last quarter of an hour of the match without any goal having been scored, it indeed looked like yet another scoreless draw today.

But then the game suddenly burst into life with B36 taking the lead in the 74th minute with an easy finish from Jákup á Borg, after Adeshina Lawal had taken full advantage of a slip-up in the NSÍ defence to set up the goal.

But the joy lasted shortly for the home-team as NSÍ restored parity four minutes later when Árni Frederiksberg set up Klæmint Olsen for a simple finish.

But NSÍ’s joy in equalizing lasted even shorter as B36 regained the lead within three minutes through 17-year old Benjamin Heinesen with his first senior goal when he headed home from close range following a long throw-in.

Nigerian Lawal then cemented B36’s win in added time after outpacing the NSÍ defence.

With the victory B36 leapfrog NSÍ to move into 3rd place in the table, but will drop back to 4th again tomorrow after the game between EB/Streymur and KÍ Klaksvík who before the match are both one point adrift of B36.

June 23

EB/Streymur - KÍ Klaksvík 4-3 (1-2)
0-1 Páll Klettskarð
0-2 Atli Danielsen
1-2 Hans Pauli Samuelsen
1-3 Heðin Klakstein
2-3 Levi Hanssen (pen)
3-3 Leif Niclasen
4-3 Niels Pauli Danielsen

KÍ started as the much stronger team and had already been close before they took the lead after six minutes when Páll Klettskarð turned in a rebound from René Tórgarð who had saved from an initial effort.

Ten minutes later, KÍ doubled their lead through Atli Danielsen following a corner.

Eventually, EB/Streymur improved and started threatening at the other end and took full advantage 10 minutes before the break when a KÍ player was sidelined getting treatment where Leif Niclasen set up Hans Pauli Samuelsen to pull a goal back with a clinical finish.

But just as EB/Streymur had gotten hope for the comeback, they were dealt a blow a few minutes later when central midfielder Pætur Dam Jacobsen was sent off for a reckless tackle.

And ten minutes after the break, the visitors restored the two-goal cushion with a well placed shot from Heðin Klaksstein – the son of newly appointed KÍ coach Eyðun Klakstein.

But the tide changed again just a few minutes later when KÍ goalkeeper Meinhardt Joensen after a duel with Arnbjørn Hansen - who had come of the bench having been injured for a couple of months – where the goalkeeper pulled down the striker which earned the keeper a red card and EB/Streymur a penalty which Levi Hanssen converted safely.

The momentum was now with the home-team, and the equalizer came in the 65th minutes when Arnbjørn Hansen flicked on a free kick with his head to Leif Niclasen who slotted home.

And Hansen was again the provider when he played Niels Pauli Danielsen clear in the 88th minute to clinch the three points for EB/Streymur.

07 Vestur - HB Tórshavn 1-2 (1-1)
0-1 Kristin R. Mouritsen
1-1 Jovan Radinovic-Panic
1-2 Bárður J. Heinesen

HB Tórshavn stay 7 points clear at the top of the table, but they had to work hard for their victory over strugglers 07 Vestur; scoring the winner just a few minutes before the final whistle.

HB was the better team in the first half and took the lead through Kristin R. Mouritsen who got clear on goal.

But against the run of play, Serbian midfielder Rovan Radinovic-Panic – once a HB player – equalized for the home-team.

The second half was an even affair, but five minutes from the end, substitute forward Bárður J. Heinesen clinched the winner for HB from a free kick that was knocked into the penalty area.

AB Argir - TB Tvøroyri 2-1 (1-0)
1-0 Dion Splidt
1-1 Babacar Ndiour
2-1 Morten Overgaard

AB Argir grabbed a last minute winner from defender Morten Overgaard who headed home from a free kick to keep alive their dream of an unlikely comeback in the table where they now are trailing TB and Víkingur by seven points. – A draw and victory, then there’s contact again, but surely, that’s impossible, right…?

AB had taken the lead directly on free kick through Dion Splidt after 20 minutes before Senegalese defender Babacar Ndiour equalized with a replica free kick 20 minutes through the second half.

In connection with the free kick, AB defender Leivur Joensen had been sent off, so it was with 10 against 11 that AB scored the winning goal in the dying moments.
