May 02 - 04, 2010: Round 05 of the Vodafone Division:

May 02

EB/Streymur – HB Tórshavn 0-1 (0-1)
0-1 Rógvi Poulsen

Generally, the match was a very even affair. After the first quarter of an hour, HB for a while managed to put a sustainable pressure on EB/Streymur, but eventually the pressure eased again to let EB/Streymur have a couple of finishes at the other end, but without really testing Marcin Dawid in the HB goal.

But 25 minutes through the match, HB rode their luck when Hans Pauli Samuelsen had the goal at his mercy, but the golden opportunity was squandered as Samuelsen hit the crossbar when he only had to lift the ball over the defence and goalkeeper who had blocked two initial shots in the same incident.

It turned out to be a costly miss as it instead was HB who took the lead just a couple of minutes later when Andrew av Fløtum’s fine through-ball played Rógvi Poulsen completely clear to put HB in front.

In the second half, HB mostly tried to preserve their lead which gave EB/Streymur much of the initiative, but HB still had chances at the other end however; the best coming from Tór-Ingar Akselsen who hit the upright with a fierce shot from the edge of the penalty area. A corner nearly went directly in also, but EB/Streymur were saved by the far post.

EB/Streymur’s efforts mostly came from high crosses which caused problems for the goalkeeper on more than one occasion, but after 6 minutes of added time, HB could breathe a sigh of relief when they heard the referee’s final whistle.

With the win, HB climbed to the top of the table where they are equal on points with B36 who have a superior goal difference, however.

B36 Tórshavn - ÍF Fuglafjørður 1-1 (1-0)
1-0 Hjalgrím Elttør
1-1 Rógvi jacobsen

B36 dominated the first half and took the lead around the half-hour mark when Hjalgrím Elttør headed home from a Jákup á Borg cross.

B36 should have sewn up the match in the first half as they had great opportunities, but were made to pay for their misses in the second half when a transformed ÍF team equalized halfway through the half with a goal from Rógvi Jacobsen - and of course it was a header; his speciality.

B36 still lead the table with 11 points for 5 matches, but now only on goal difference on HB Tórshavn, and if Víkingur beat B68 on Monday, also Víkingur will reach 11 points.

B71 Sandoy - FC Suðuroy 3-1 (1-1)
1-0 Mads A. Hentze
1-1 Henning G. Joensen
2-1 Owngoal
3-1 Mads A. Hentze

For the 3rd time this season newly promoted B71 surprised at least soccerandequipment.com, but probably also several others, when they beat the other promoted team, FC Suðuroy, who have looked quite strong so far through the season.

Mads Hentze's goal after 10 minutes was cancelled out by Henning Joensen's scoring some 30 minutes through the match, but B71 regained the lead with a quarter of an hour to go when Teitur Tausen turned a Símin Hansen fre kick behind his own goalkeeper.

10 minutes later 21-year-old Hentze scored his second goal of the match when he headed in a corner from Høgni Midjord to make the points safe for B71.

May 03:

B68 Toftir - Víkingur 5-3 (2-3)
1-0 Owngoal
2-0 Pól Jóhannus Justinussen
2-1 Súni Olsen
2-2 Sølvi Vatnhamar
2-3 Sverri Jacobsen
3-3 Oddur Højgaard
4-3 Oddur Højgaard
5-3 Oddur Højgaard

B68 took the lead just a few minutes into the match when Víkingur goalkeeper Geza Turi punched the ball into his own net, and after a quarter of an hour Pól ohannus Justinussen gave B68 a two-goal cushion with an easy site-foot finish.

But that two-goal cushion didn’t seem to be of much avail as Víkingur had turned things on the head before half time. First it was Súni Olsen who pulled one back after 20 minutes, and a quarter of an hour later Sølvi Vatnhamar had equalized, and as the first half was drawing to a close it was Sverri Jacobsen who put Víkingur in front.

But just as Víkingur looked set to escape with the 3 points in the bag, Oddur Højgaard, who had just come on, restored parity for B68 with a header 10 minutes from the end. Five minutes later Højgaard put B68 back in front with another header as he took full advantage of Geza Turi’s fumble in the Víkingur goal. And in the closing stages Højgaard completed his hat trick in a memorable 5-3 win over Víkingur which takes B68 to 3rd spot in the table.

May 04:

NSÍ Runavík - AB Argir 3-0 (0-0)
1-0 Klæmint Olsen
2-0 Heðin á Lakjuni
3-0 Christian Høgni Jacobsen

After a goalless first half, Klæmint Olsen broke the deadlock 10 minutes through the second half when he deflected a shot from Christian Høgni Jacobsen into the AB goal. Heðin á Lakjuni doubled the lead some 10 minutes before the end of normal time before Christian Høgni Jacobsen made it 3-0 in added time.

Although NSÍ are still under the relegation line, they now have contact with a bunch of teams just over the line while AB are isolated at the bottom, 3 points below the line. Although still early days, AB could be in trouble if they don´t start getting a few victories soon.
