April 5 - 7, 2010: Round 02 of the Vodafone Division:

April 05

Víkingur - HB Tórshavn
Postponed to Wednesday 6 April due to strong wind
See match report at the bottom.

B36 Tórshavn - B68 Toftir 3-1 (0-0)
1-0 Bárður Olsen
2-0 Jákup á Borg
2-1 Pól Jóhannus Justinussen
3-1 Bárður Olsen

After a lively start, where B36 went close in the first minute, the match died again, but brightened up again in the latter stages of the first half where B68 threatened to take the lead. In one incident B36 goalkeeper Meinhardt Joensen pushed the ball onto his own crossbar after a B68 corner.

However, 7 minutes into the second half, B68 were trailing with 2 goals! Midfielder Bárður Olsen made it 1-0 with a fine lob over B68 goalkeeper Vlada Filipovic. Moments later, just after a great opportunity for B68 to level the match, Jákup á Borg got clear of the defence to make it 2-0.

It looked to be even more uphill for B68 when Jóhan Petur Poulsen was sent off for a second bookable offence, but halfway through the half, 10-men B68 were back in the match with a headed goal from defender Pól Jóhannus Justinussen who had come forward. And the minute after Ahmed Keita had a great opportunity to level the match.

But it wasn´t to be as Bárður Olsen made it 3-1 for B36 with a quarter of an hour remaining with his second goal of the match after Hjalgrím Elttør had made the foreplay.

With B36’s relative easy opponents in the next couple of matches, B36 could find themselves in a very good position in the table.

FC Suðuroy - NSÍ Runavík 1-1 (0-1)
0-1 Christian Høgni Jacobsen (pen)
1-1 Jón Krosslá Poulsen (pen)

Christian Høgni Jacobsen's penalty late in the first half seemed to be enough for an NSÍ win, but FC Suðuroy equalized on a penalty of their own several minutes into added time.

AB Argir - B71 Sandoy 3-3 (0-2)
0-1 Mads Hentze
0-2 Mads Hentze
1-2 Gunnar Haraldsen
2-2 Stig-Roar Søbstad
2-3 Bojan Zivic
3-3 Stig-Roar Søbstad

B71 were surprisingly leading 2-0 at half time, both goals scored by 21-year-old Mads A. Hentze. The first was a well placed shot from the edge of the penalty area after 12 minutes, and the second was scored near the end of the half after some fine dribbles.

AB scored twice in quick succession midway through the second half to level the match. Gunnar Haraldsen scored the first with a header from a corner while Norwegian striker Stig Roar Søbstad scored the second from close range.

But B71 regained the lead with a goal from Serb Bojan Zivic with 10 minutes remaining, but AB equalized yet again 3 minutes later thanks to Søbstad's second goal of the match and his fourth in 2 games to go top of the top scorer list.

April 06

ÍF Fuglafjørður - EB/Streymur 1-1 (0-0)
0-1 Bjarni Jørgensen
1-1 Rógvi Jacobsen

EB/Streymur looked set to take the 3 points with Bjarni Jørgensen's goal early in the second half, but in the dying moments Rógvi Jacobsen, who had started on the bench, equalized as he took advantage of goalkeeper René Tórgarð´s rebound from an initial fine save from a clear Karl Løkin.

April 07

Víkingur - HB Tórshavn 0-0
The weather during the first half was horrendous with rain and strong wind which HB had in their back which was a clear advantage for HB, although Víkingur did have a couple of good opportunities in the first half.

But it was HB who should have taken an early lead when Andrew av Fløtum brilliantly played Levi Hanssen clear, but Gezza Turi in the Víkingur goal saved with his legs.

A few moments later av Fløtum was involved again when HB combined well through the Víkingur defence, but av Fløtum’s chance also went begging.

Víkingur then had their best opportunity of the match when a header from Finnur Justinussen looked to be going over HB goalkeeper Marcin Dawid, but incredibly Dawid managed to stretch to tip the ball over the crossbar.

Súni Olsen also went close for Víkingur later when he turned on the edge of the penalty area, but Olsen’s drive went close by the upright.

Víkingur never got the same advantage from the wind as HB had had in the first half as the weather conditions improved considerably during half time, and for most of the second half, the weather conditions were close to perfect.

And it was HB who had a clear majority of the possession and at times moved the ball around quite well and seem to have improved since their, lets be honest, lacklustre performances against FC Suðuroy and the cup defeat by B36.

HB also had the chances to win the game today, but their finishing today lacked quality.

Around the hour mark, Símun Samuelsen was played clear with a fine long pass through the middle, but Samuelsen’s weak finish was saved by the Víkingur goalkeeper.

Also Andrew av Fløtum had a fine opportunity for HB a while later after great work on the left flank by Rógvi Poulsen, but with a clear sight of goal, av Fløtum’s shot was off target.

Víkingur had little to offer in the second half and their only efforts were from shots from way out and counter-attacks that didn't really become dangerous.

But in one incident Súni Olsen was awarded the free kick which he was clearly going for and almost made it count, but Dawid in the HB goal dived to his left to avert the danger.

HB were close again towards the end of the match when Rógvi Poulsen and Andrew av Fløtum made the groundwork to set up Símun Samuelsen with yet another great opportunity, but with more or less an open goal, Samuelsen’s side-foot finish went on the wrong side of the post.

Tór-Ingar Akselsen almost made Víkingur pay for some miscommunication at the back as he got in-between the goalkeeper and the defender, but Víkingur survived the scare.

HB should have won the match today as they missed some sitters, but they will still think that they are on the right track as they dominated the second half. They will also be happy that their defence held tight today. To make sure of that they had moved Fróði Benjaminsen from midfield to central defence, where Rógvi Holm moved to the right back position.

Víkingur were strangely passive today, especially in the second half, and will have to be more attacking if they want to improve more on last season’s 3rd spot – or just to hold on to it.
