Centre-back Johan Troest Davidsen, who had originally been selected, had to pull out later on that same evening as a scan shoved he had broken his hand in action for HB Tórshavn against Víkingur. He was then replaced by midfielder Heini Vatnsdal from HB, but also he withdrew shortly after because of injury, and the same did B36 Tórshavn midfielder Róaldur Jakobsen.

They were replaced by Levi Hanssen (HB) and uncapped Hans Jørgen Djurhuus (Víkingur) who will turn 36 next month. Also Fullback Ári Mohr Jónsson pulled out because of injury and he was replaced by B36 full back Alex Mellemgaard.

The Faroe Islands play away against Northern Ireland on Saturday 11 October and then take on Hungary at home on Tuesday evening, 14 October.

HB Tórshavn sign EB/Streymur striker Arnbjørn Hansen
On Monday HB Tórshavn announced that they had signed 28-year old EB/Streymur striker Arnbjørn Hansen who is no. 3 on the all-time top scorer list with 129 league goals – 18 short of retired John Petersen who leads Jákup á Borg by 2 goals.

It might be something of a gamble as Hansen has had a fair share of inquiries in the latter years and has on average played under 70 minutes per match during the last four seasons.

Hansen has twice been league top scorer; in 2010 (alongside Christian Høgni Jacobsen) with 22 goals and in 2008 with 20 goals.

TB Tvøroyri and FC Suðuroy promoted
TB Tvøroyri will return to the top flight after one year among the second best while FC Suðuroy has waited for two years.

TB won the first division in style with 67 points for 27 matches while FC Suðuroy just managed to pip 07 Vestur by a point; 48 to Suðuroy and 47 to Vestur who blew it in the penultimate round as they lost to KÍ Klaksvík who just avoided relegation on goal difference.

HB Tórshavn exodus?
The rumour has it that high-profile players of HB Tórshavn will move to Denmark to study after the season. These include goalkeeper Teitur Gestsson, midfielders Heini Vatnsdal and Kristin R. Mouritsen. It’s also thought to be unlikely that Jóan Símun Edmundsson will continue.

--------

Adeshina Lawal to ÍF Fuglafjørður?
One newspaper has claimed that B36 Tórshavn’s Nigerian striker Adeshina Lawal is about to sign for ÍF Fuglafjørður for next season. A bit surprising if the elegant forward would choose a team in the lower half (although that could change next season) instead of a top team as B36. But checks decide such matters. But nothing is official there.
