November 2012 Round-Up:

November 30, 2012

Hungarian goalkeeper Andras Gango to 07 Vestur
Hungarian goalkeeper Andras Gango who played for KÍ Klaksvík in 2012 has signed a 1-year contract with newly promoted 07 Vestur. Before his year in Klaksvík, Gango played two seasons at NSÍ and four at ÍF Fuglafjørður whom he joined in 2006.

07 Vestur have also announced that they have extended the contracts with Serbian midfielder Jovan Radinovic-Panic and Ivorian centre-back Tehe Aristide. Aristide has been with the club for two seasons while.

Goalkeeper Meinhardt Joensen stops at B36 Tórshavn
Goalkeepr Meinhardt Joensen, who has been with B36 for four seasons, has announced that he has stopped at B36. Joensen, who lives in Klaksvík, has also admitted that he has had talks with KÍ Klaksvík, but that no decision has been made yet. He has also said that it’s not certain that he will play at all. But let’s guess that when all come to all, Joensen will between KÍ’s sticks next season…

Joensen, who turned 33 on Wednesday, is originally a KÍ player and made his senior league debut in the year 2000.

Jákup Mikkelsen on his way to ÍF Fuglafjørður for another season?
Goalkeeper Jákup Mikkelsen, who previously has announced that he had stopped at ÍF Fuglafjørður, could still make a U-turn, as he has received an offer from ÍF, the newspaper Nordlýsið reports. But his future depends on where his son, 17-year old Poul Mikkelsen, plays, the senior said, as he will only play for the same club where his son plays. The youngster made his debut for KÍ’s seniors in the last match of the season. Apparently, the son has also received an offer from ÍF.

Abraham Løkin not coach in 2013
Abraham Løkin had announced that he was ready for coaching again next season after a couple of years away from the trade, but he has now announced that he won’t have the time for it after all. He told that three clubs had been in contact with him. NSÍ Runavík was undoubtedly one of them, and let’s just guess that the other two were EB/Streymur and ÍF Fuglafjørður. But we could be wrong.

TB Tvøroyri and coach Milan Kuljic part company
TB have announced that Serbian coach Milan Kuljic will not be their coach for another season. Apparently, TB have solved the coaching issue, but they won’t announce the new coach before the middle of December.

TB will also have fewer foreigners in the team next season and Nenad Stankovic who joined at the second half of the season has not had is contract extended, and the rumour is that the faith is the same for his compatriot, defender Dmitrije Jankovic.

NSÍ Runavík negotiating with coach
NSÍ have announced that they are in negotiations with a Faroese coach. They are also on the outlook for strengthening the team with a defender.

November 25, 2012

November has been quite peaceful when it comes to transfers or football news in general, but during the last week, no. 1 and 2 from the recent season named their new coaches for their vacant hot-seats.

Rúni Nolsøe to EB/Streymur
As EB/Streymur’s coach Heðin Askham had announced that he would take a year off from top league football next year (although he will still be coach for the Faroese U21 team together with Bill McLeud Jacobsen), EB/Streymur have been on the outlook for a successor, and after having been in contact with a few names, the club announced earlier in the week that they had appointed Rúni Nolsøe for a two-year term.

It might be a gamble for EB/Streymur as Nolsøe doesn’t have the most of coaching experience. After ending his career as a player in 2005 after 344 appearances for HB Tórshavn’s 1st team – a club record – and 100 appearances for his youth club VB Vágur, he took up coaching in 2006 and in successive years he guided AB Argir and B68 Toftir to promotion to the top division. In 1998 he was then appointed coach for HB Tórshavn, but after unstable results he was “equipped” with another coach to help him midway through the season. HB ended the season in second place, 6 points adrift of Nolsøe’s new club, EB/Streymur.

Nolsøe didn’t continue at HB the following year, but instead took care of 07 Vestur’s 2nd team the following year as part of getting his coaching education. In 2010 he coached FC Hoyvík during the first part of the season, and in 2011 he had his only other coaching-experience in the top flight as he towards the end of the competition together with Símun Eliasen took over at relegation-threatened ÍF Fuglafjørður and managed to avoid the drop with a 4-point margin.

Albert Ellefsen to ÍF Fuglafjørður
Also runners-up ÍF Fuglafjørður have been in search for a coach as it quickly became clear that their Danish coach Flemming Christensen did not want to continue in the Faroese for another season. Having looked at home and abroad, ÍF have decided to appoint Albert Ellefsen as new coach on a one-year contract.

Having had a 4-year break from coaching while he has served as mayor of the Vágar municipality, Ellefsen was ousted from the post in the recent election and is now ready for coaching duties again.

Ellefsen’s last coaching job was at exactly ÍF, where he had taken over from English coach David Jones for the remaining 10 matches of the 2008-season.

The year earlier, Ellefsen also had the responsibility of HB Tórshavn as he became head coach in the second part of the season when Polish coach Krzysztof Popczynski had been sacked. In addition having been assistant coach for HB on other occasions, Ellefsen had been coach for FS Vágar in two terms; 2001-2003 and 1995-1996.

Piotr Krakowski continues at 07 Vestur
Polish coach Piotr Krakowski, who originally came to B71 Sandoy as player in 1989, will continue at the helm of 07 Vestur for another season. He was also their coach in 2008 and 2009, winning promotion, then getting relegated, and it quite likely that the pattern will be repeated this time as 07 Vestur surely will struggle next season. Krakowski has earlier been coach at EB/Streymur, B36 Tórshavn (winning the title in 2001), ÍF Fuglafjørður, FS Vágar and B71 Sandoy.

Three clubs are still to settle the coaching-issue ahead of next season; B36 Tórshavn, TB Tvøroyri and NSÍ Runavík.

Høgni Madsen plays for Maltese club Pieta Hotspurs FC
ÍF Fuglafjørður midfielder Høgni Madsen recently signed for Maltese 2nd tier club Pieta Hotspurs who currently are placed no. 4 in the table, three points adrift of leaders Lija A. Madsen's stay in Malta is mostly “for fun” and will only last until the winter break when he returns to ÍF where he will play again next season.

Goalkeeper Jákup Mikkelsen not KÍ goalkeeper next season
KÍ had hoped to sign veteran goalkeeper Jákup Mikkelsen for next season, but the latest news report that negotiations between the parties have broken down. However, it’s not completely ruled out that Mikkelsen will be attached to the club somehow.

KÍ intend to have two strong goalkeepers available for next season and are therefore in talks with current goalkeeper Andras Gango and deputy Gunnar á Steig as well as B36 goalkeeper Meinhardt Joensen, who is originally a KÍ player.

--------

KÍ Klaksvík fullback Rudolf Eliasen to ÍF Fuglafjørður
ÍF Fuglafjørður have announced that they have signed KÍ Klaksvík fullback Rudolf Eliasen who failed to make KÍ’s first team last season, but who has previously played 38 matches for KÍ in the top division.
