November 30, 2009: November Round-Up:

November has been a very quiet month. - Two new coaches and two player signings in the Faroes and two Faroese players in Denmark switching club; that’s all there is in November’s roundup.

B36 Tórshavn

Sigfríður Clementsen re-appointed B36 coach
B36 have named Sigfríður Clementsen as coach for 2010. He was also their coach in 2005 and 2006.

36-year-old Clementsen has been one of the most successful coaches during the last 5 seasons. In 2005 he guided B36 to the title and accomplished the cup trophy the following season.

He took a break from coaching in 2007, but late in the season he was brought in to try to resque AB Argir from relegation, but it was an impossible mission.

In 2008 he was appointed coach at EB/Streymur and steered them to the double that year. 2009 was more troublesome for him as EB/Streymur made a terrible start to the season and were effectively out of the championship race before it had reached the half way stage. However, there was some limited success in the cup as EB/Streymur reached the final, but a 3-2 loss to Víkingur cost Clementsen the job.

Later in the season he was made assistant coach to Mikkjal Thomassen at B36 who were in serious relegation problems, and with Clementsen’s help, B36 managed to steer clear of disaster.

Símun Joensen from KÍ Klaksvík
26 year old KÍ Klaksvík midfielder Símun Joensen has joined B36. When fit, he was one of KÍ’s better players. He only played in the latter part of last season though, and the previous season to that was marred by injury.

B36 Tórshavn

HB Tórshavn
HB have appointed the 44 year old Icelandic Kristiján Guðmundsson as coach for the next couple of seasons.

Guðmundsson has been at the helm of Icelandic club Keflavík for 5 years. In 2006 they won the Icelandic cup and in 2008 they were were leading FH Hafnarfjørður by 2 points going into the final round of the season, but a loss in their final match meant the title slipped out of their hands. Faroese International Símun Samuelsen has played for the Icelandic club since 2005. (Here’s what we wrote about that fatal last day in Iceland in 2008).

Gudmundsson is said to prefer entertaining and attacking football, but is not naive defensively, though.

NSÍ Runavík
NSÍ have signed 21-year-old HB midfielder Ólavur í Ólavsstovu whose 2009 season was ruined by injury. The hardworking í Ólavsstovu made his mark in 2006 and was predicted a great future by many, but has since found it difficult to get into HB’s starting line up.

With HB’s strong midfield in mind, he didn´t expect to get too many minutes on the field in 2010 and therefore decided to try his luck with NSÍ.

Faroese abroad to Vanløse, Danish 2nd division
Páll Klettskarð and Erling Jacobsen to Vanløse Danish based Faroese U-21 players Páll Klettskkarð and Erling Jacobsen, who have been at 1st division (2nd tier) club Frem BK, have switched to Vanløse IF who are playing one division lower.

Klettskarð is originally from KÍ klaksvík while Jacobsen’s cradle was Víkingur (or GÍ Gøta, before GÍ and LÍF Leirvík merged to Víkingur in 2008).

Wow, quick and easy this time:-) Maybe something has been forgotten, but never mind...
