TB Tvøroyri sign former Newcastle trainee and Scottish Premier League player

TB Tvøroyri has signed 25 year old English attacking midfielder Nicholas (Nicky) Ferenc Deverdics.

Deverdedics was a Newcastle United trainee from 2004 – 2006 before he was released, and after short stints with lower ranked teams, he joined Gretna FC in 2007 who the following season were promoted to the Scottish Premier League where he made 22 appearances and scored 2 goals. The club was relegated and also dissolved because of bad financial state, and Deverdics was released together with the rest of the squad.

After topping early, it could be said, Deverdics has been around at lesser teams which also took him to the Icelandic 2nd tier club, before he joined TB after a couple of years back in England.

The full list of teams after his trainee period at Newcastle is: Gateshead, Bedlington Terriers, Gretna, Barnet, Blyth Spartans, BÍ/Bolungarvík, Team Northumbria, Alfreton Town.

Deverdicks played a full 90 minutes in TB’s 4-1 defeat to 07 Vestur in the second round of the league.

National team against Austria selected
Faroe Island coach Lars Olsen yesterday announced the 19-men strong team he has selected for the upcoming World Cup qualifier away to Austria on 22 March.

A surprise inclusion was EB/Streymur’s Hans Pauli Samuelsen, who hasn’t been in the team since 2007; sometimes because of "voluntary exclusion" and sometime because various coaches have preferred players with more defensive qualities in addition to the attacking qualities of Samuelsen.

Also defender Atli Gregersen is back in the team, having missed out in previous selections under Olsen – except for the Thailand tour were Gregersen pulled out because of sickness.

The selected team is:

Goalkeepers:
Gunnar Nielsen (clubless)
Christian Joensen (NSÍ Runavík)
Teitur Gestsson (HB Tórshavn)

Defenders:
Atli Gregersen (Víkingur)
Rógvi Baldvinsson (Bryne BK, Norway)

Pól Jóhannus Justinussen (NSÍ Runavík)
Daniel Udsen (Herlev IF, Denmark)

Midfielders
Fróði Benjaminsen (HB Tórshavn)
Pætur Dam Jacobsen (EB/Streymur)
Hans Pauli Samuelsen (EB/Streymur)
