Additionally, they have signed KÍ Klaksvík prospect, 18-year-old John Daniel Guðjónsson who hasen´t appeared in the top flight yet, but who has impressed as a central defender in preseason for ÍF.  He is seen a possible replacement for experienced Høgni Zachariassen who won’t be playing in at least many of the first rounds.

TB have signed 23-year old Ivory born Frenchman Franck Odje Able. Table – a forward  - has previously played for the reserve teams of Ruen and –what we believe is a – Portuguese club UDV Futebol SAD.

Suðuroy’s foreigners, two Georgians and a Nigerian, won’t be eligible to play in the first round of the league as they haven’t received a work permit yet.

----

KÍ Klaksvík's forward Kenan Hajdarevic also ineligible
Story is the same at KÍ Klaksvík who have their new signing Kenan Hajdarevic ineligible to play in the first round as he still hasn't received his work permit. 25-year-old Hajdarevic has made three appearances for Bosnia-Herzegovina's U21 team.

----

Heini Vatnsdal club-less
Midfielder Heini Vatnsdal who has been unsuccessful in his quest to find a Danish club while he’s studying in Denmark might still be playing in the Faroes after all. HB Tórshavn have the contractual rights for the player who was released from the contract on the basis of Vatnsdal studying abroad. Therefore signings for other clubs would have to be agreed by HB.

----

Karl Løkin returns from Denmark
Midfielder Karl Løkin who has spent the last half year at Danish 3rd tier club Næstved has returned home to the Faroe Islands because of personal reasons. Although rumours, no official news has come out about which club Løkin will play for. Løkin has been capped three time for the Faroe Islands.

U-21 Draw for European Championship in Poland 2017
The qualifying draw for the 2017 European Under-21 Championship in Poland was made on 5 January and the Faroe Islands were drawn into group 7 together with Germany, Russia, Austria, Finland and Azerbaijan.

It was on the 9th of June in 2009 that the Faroe Islands beat Russia 1-0 with a 1st minute goal from Jóan Símun Edmundsson, and arguably this victory defined Faroese attitude towards the bigger nations and raised the mental bar, as anything now seemed possible.

And since, the Faroese team has gotten many excellent results like draws against Romania and Denmark, and in the last qualifying campaign they were desperately unlucky to lose 3-2 in the end against Germany, having led both 1-0 and 2-1. And then there have also been wins and draws against smaller nations.

The first victory was already in their first qualifying campaign however, when they - as they're now - were grouped with Azerbaijan who were defeated 1-0 at home on 14 October 2007 while the reverse on 6 September 2008 was a 2-2 draw.

Match schedule:

2015
15-06-2015 Faroe Islands-Azerbaijan
08-09-2015 Finland-Faroe Islands
13-10-2015 Faroe Islands-Germany
12-11-2015 Russia-Faroe Islands

2016:
25-03-2016 Germany-Faroe Islands
29-03-2016 Austria-Faroe Islands
02-06-2016 Faroe Islands-Finland
01-09-2016 Faroe Islands-Russia
06-09-2016 Azerbaijan-Faroe Islands
07-10-2016 Faroe Islands-Austria

Faroe Islands not backing Sepp Blatter
Faroe Islands’ Football Association had decided to not back Sep Blatter for re-election for the FIFA presidency, but will instead vote for Dutchman Michael van Praag.

As Blatter seems to bee standing strong, the risk is maybe that Blatter could "turn against" the Faroe Islands as a tit-for-tat, however, as van Praag is a powerful man at UEFA, the favour could be returned there in the future maybe.

Transfer News:

Faroese international Jónas Tór Næs joins B36 Tórshavn

Three foreigners
