HB Tórshavn sack coach Heine Fernandez

HB Tórshavn today announced in a press release that they have parted company with Danish coach Heine Fernandez.

This comes after HB has had a string of bad results lately, culminating in a humiliating 4-0 loss away to EB/Streymur on Saturday, which sent HB down to 3rd position in the table, 4 points behind leaders Skála.

Heine Fernandez became coach at HB in 2004 and managed HB to victories in both the league and cup. HB also won the Atlantic Cup, the annual match between the champions of the Faroe Islands and the champions of Iceland. In the same season HB also beat FC WIT Georgia 3-0 at home in the 1st qualifying round for the Champions League (but HB had lost 5-0 away and did therefore not progress).

New coach for the rest of the season will be former HB- and international player Julian Hansen (he played right back in the famous victory over Austria in 1990). Juilan Hanse was (until today) coach at the Faroese soccer club in Copenhagen, ÍF Føroyar.
