August 21, 2005: Round 20 of the Formula 1st Division:

HB Tórshavn stroll to a 4-1 victory over TB Tvøroyri

HB Tórshavn - TB Tvøroyri 4-1 (3-0)
1-0 Bárður Mortansson
2-0 Rasmus Nolsøe
3-0 Bárður Mortansson
3-1 Dejan Tomic (pen)
4-1 Uni Arge

It takes two teams to get an exciting game of soccer. If HB is one at the moment is debatable, but at least HB are heads and shoulders better than TB. TB had nothing to show for and with such differences, it was always going to be a boring match.

It took HB only 7 minutes to get their first goal. Janus Joensen put in a cross from the left and found an unmarked Bárður Mortanson in the penalty area and he comfortably tapped the ball into the goal.

On 14 minutes it was 2-0 and the match virtually decided. HB had a free kick on the right just outside the penalty area. Rasmuss Nolsøe curled it beautifully over the wall and into the near bottom corner. Rasmus’ 6th goal this season and his 5th on a free kick!

On 24 minutes HB made it 3-0. This time it was a cross from the right and again TB forgot to mark Bárður Mortanson who had no problem in scoring from close range. Quite reminiscent of the first goal.

HB had other opportunities, but they all went missing, either because of bad finishing or because of good saves from TB´s goalkeeper. Bárður Johannesen in the HB goal didn’t have to make one save in he first 45 minute.

TB were late out on the pitch for the second half and they have probably been given a real pep talk in the break. And their performance was better in the second half, but being 3 goals behind TB were never going to catch HB. But they did get 1 back. On 70 minutes the referee awarded TB a penalty when a HB defender was judged for pushing. Dejan Tomic safely converted the spot kick.

Before this, TB had their only other opportunity in the second half, when Dejan Tomic shot from long distance. But Bárður Johannesen made a diving save.

Before and after this, HB created dozens of clear chances, but they were all squandered. But HB did get one goal in the second half and this was a very special goal:

Former “scoring machine”, Uni Arge, who retired 3 years ago because of back problems, made a comeback today. He entered the pitch midway in the second half and 40 seconds later, he had scored. He got the ball outside the penalty area, turned and shot the ball into the top right corner. – A spectacular goal! No reason to make it more complicated than it is, was his message, I think…

With the 3 points today, HB overtake B36 on the second place, as B36 lost to NSÍ Runavík. Skála is still 1 point in front of HB in 1st spot.

The other matches in round 20:

Skála march on in their quest for the championship and it’s difficult to see exactly who can stop them. wo of the key fixtures for Skála will be home against HB on September 18 and away to NSÍ Runavík the following Sunday. Today they hammered VB Vágur 5-1.

NSÍ Runavík took another big scalp today when they beat B36 Tórshavn. NSÍ scored within the first minutes of the game and B36’s inability to score goals again became evident as they left the field without scoring for the 6th time this season in 20 games. NSÍ is now only 1 point behind B36 and 3 and 4 behind HB and Skála respectively.

KÍ klakvík were hoping to take a big step off the bottom, as they were leading 1-0 over EB/Streymur at half time. But then EB/Streymur upped the tempo in the second half and won a comfortably 4-2.

GÍ Gøta took a giant step into safety from relegation, when they beat fellow-strugglers ÍF Fuglafjørður. But it was ÍF who took the lead in the second half, but after their goal, they let GÍ take the initiative by becoming too defensive and GÍ thanked for the invitation and scored 3 goals. With no points added to their account today, ÍF is still not safe from relegation.
