June 12, 2005: Round 12 of the Formula 1st Division:

3 goals and 3 points for HB Tórshavn, as EB/Streymur still can’t score against them

HB Tórshavn – EB/Streymur 3-0 (2-0)
1-0 Jákup á Borg '8
2-0 Hans á Lag '21
3-0 Rasmus Nolsøe '81

Two quick goals was the only thing HB Tórshavn needed to kill off EB/Streymurs challenge today in another dull home match in Gundadalur stadium this season. But lying number 1 in the table, what is there to moan about? Hmm, but it is boring stuff to watch…

HB Tórshavn got their first goal after only 8 minutes when Rókur av Fløtum Jespersen and Tór-Ingar Akselsen combined through the (passive) EB/Streymur defense on the left and Tór-Ingar then shot, but the keeper saved, but Jákup á Borg was quick to hammer the riposte into the empty net.

HB doubled their lead some 10 minutes later. Rókur av Fløtum Jespersen had a shot at goal outside the penalty area, but mishit the ball which instead became a perfect pass to Hans á Lag who only had the keeper to beat and he did that easily.

HB could have scored more goals in the first half, for example Rókur hit the post after a corner, but useful chances often went begging because of slack passes.

EB/Streymur rarely threatened the HB goal. Their best chance came from an Egil á Bø header, but the ball bounced off the ground and went just over the bar.

In the second half HB played very badly and produced very few scoring opportunities. EB/Streymur on the other hand produced a few, and especially Hans Pauli Samuelsen went close when he was played clear in the penalty area, but Bárður Johannesen blocked the shot with a super save.

EB/Streymur almost scored from the following corner, but the header went narrowly wide of goal.

Sorin Anghel also had a good shot at goal, but also his effort went wide. Anghel also appealed for a penalty when he fell in the penalty area, but his fall looked rather theatrical and the referee waved play on.

9 minutes from time, HB was awarded a free kick 1 meter outside the penalty area, and up stepped free kick specialist Rasmus Nolsøe, and he blasted the ball into the net for a 3-0 victory for HB.

EB/Streymur has still never scored a goal against HB in Gundadalur.

With the victory today, HB has opened up a 3 point gap to B36 Tórshavn, who were scheduled to play against VB Vágur, but too much wind in Vágur made it impossible to play and the match was therefore postponed. A new date has not been set yet.

The other matches in round 12:

As mentioned above, the match between VB Vágur and B36 Tórshavn was postponed because of strong wind in Vágur. Thefore, B36 is now 3 points behind HB Tórshavn in the table, but with a game in hand, of course. Therefore, they will have to win to catch HB again and that might put some pressure on B36. But VB Vágur is very much under pressure themselves, as they are rock bottom in the table and drastically need some points. However, those points are unlikely to come against B36, as VB this season is not the force they used to be on home soil.

GÍ proved today that they have no intentions to be relegated after beating KÍ Klaksvík today. This was GÍ’s third win in a row. KÍ Klaksvík on the other hand have still not proved that sacking their coach Ove Flindt Bjerg was a wise decision. GÍ and KÍ are still only 1 and 2 points from the relegation zone respectively, but at the moment, KÍ look to be in more danger, although they should survive when the season ends. The bottom team is relegated automatically; number 2 from the bottom will play against nr. 2 in the second division for a place in the best division.

ÍF Fuglafjørður finally stopped their goal from being flooded, as they managed a 0-0 draw against Skála. With this draw, Skála lost 2 vital points in the fight for top spot, and are now 5 points adrift of HB Tórshavn.

NSÍ Runavík were back to winning ways on Saturday, when they beat TB Tvøroyri 2-0. TB’s tactics is still not to fall behind, but when they do, they cannot overturn a match. That was also the story on Saturday, where they held 0-0 for a long period into the first half, but hen NSÍ then scored, the match was decided.
