Mai 1, 2005: Round 6 of the Formula 1st Division:

HB Tórshavn put 4 goals behind
EB/Streymur in the second half

HB Tórshavn – EB Streymur 4-0 (0-0)
1-0 Rúni Nolsøe ‘47
2-0 Rúni Nolsøe ’54
3-0 Tór-Ingar Akselsen (pen) ’62
3-1 Rúni Nolsøe ‘77

HB Tórshavn are still no. 2 in the Formula 1st Division, 1 point behind leaders B36 Tórshavn, after they beat EB/Streymur by 4 goals to 0 today.

Such a score line could indicate that HB had played a very good match, but let’s just say it right away: they didn’t. Especially the first half was a lackluster affair, and absolutely nothing indicated that HB would go on to win 4-0 in the end. No, on the contrary it was EB/Streymur that was the more likely scorers in the first half, and Sorin Anghel could (and should) have put the visitors in front. But he didn’t, and in soccer there is a rule, that if you don’t take the chances you get, then you loose. And that’s the rule both teams followed today.

In the second half, HB needed only 2 minutes to get in front. After a corner from the right, EB/Streymur couldn’t clear the ball, which ended in front of Rúni Nolsøe who could sweep it over the goal line for a 1-0 lead for HB.

Seven minutes later, Rúni made it 2-0. Tór-Ingar Akselsen beat a couple of defenders while he cruised down the right hand side, but the danger seemed to have been averted when the cross ended in an EB/Streymur leg, but the ball ended right in front of Rúni Nolsøe again who had an open goal to score in (via an EB/Streymur leg).

After this, EB/Streymur totally disintegrated and just 8 minutes later the referee awarded HB a penalty, when he judged that Tór-Ingar had been brought down in the penalty area. Tór-Ingar converted the penalty himself.

HB got their fourth goal from a Rúni Nolsøe free kick just outside the penalty area.

For the first time this season, HB managed a clean sheet. But apart from that and the 3 points, there weren’t too many positive things to see. HB is still not showing champions quality. However, it’s still good enough for second place…

The other matches in round 6:

The table didn’t change much this round, as all the top teams won their matches.

B36 had no problems beating a disappointing VB Vágur. It used to be almost impossible to beat VB Vágur on their home soil, but that has changed over the last 2 seasons.

Skála had to work hard to beat GÍ Gøta, who still have only have 3 points, and they will have to start getting some more, if they are not going to find themselves in the relegation zone when October comes.

KÍ Klaksvik were 2 up against NSÍ Runavík, but couldn't hold on to the lead and lost the game.

ÍF added 3 more points to their previous 8 when they beat TB Tvøroyri with a single goal and are only 2 points behind leaders B36 Tórshavn.
