August 08 - 11:
Round 18 of the premier division "Effodeildin":

August 08:

KÍ Klaksvík - B68 Toftir 0-0
B68 Toftir got their first point in 8 matches after Friday evening’s stalemate with KÍ. This was also B68’s first point on awasoil where they have score only two goals all season, both of them coming in the 3-1 defeat by AB Argir. And with only 4 home matches in the remaining 9 rounds for B68, it’s difficult to se where they should get the necessary points to move over the relegation line 7 points  ahead.

Although both teams had chances in tonight’s match, KÍ went closest with two attempts on the woodwork.

August 10:

Skála - HB Tórshavn 0-1 (0-1)
0-1 Jóan Símun Edmundsson

HB did the necessary, but hardly impressed with a narrow win over Skála whose faith look sealed as they drop 8 points below the relegation line and only miracles can now save them from relegation.

HB quickly took control of the game but found it difficult to create scoring opportunities, however.  Fróði Benjaminsen had his shot saved after 10 minutes and 5 minutes from the end centre-back Rógvi Holm got a free header from a free kick, but headed over.

It was few moments later that HB scored the winning goal after Skála failed to clear properly and Jóan Símun Edmundsson slotted home from a rebound.

There was even less to write home about in the second half which HB still dominates – but only possession-wise, as they still found it difficult to create scoring opportunities. Towards the end Skála improved slightly and visited the HB penalty area a couple of time, but never really bothered Teitur Gestsson in the HB goal though.

As AB in the crucial 8th place beat ÍF Fuglafjørður, the relegation battle seems decided as Skála and B68 are trailing AB by 8 and 10 points, respectively, with only 9 rounds remaining.

HB on the other hand did not look like a team that is going to cut the gap of 7 points on B36, and as both are playing at the moment, it’s more likely that the difference will increase rather than decrease.

B36 Tórshavn - NSÍ Runavík 1-0
1-0 Hanus Thorleifsson

They say you create your own luck, and that’s maybe what B36 do as they once again triumphed over NSÍ Runavík who had the chances to at least get a draw against the leaders.

B36 took an early lead when Hanus Thorleifsson’s shot from long range took a wicked deflection to beat NSÍ goalkeeper Andras Gango.

NSÍ then had a golden opportunity to equalize midway through the first half, but top scorer Andras Olsen missed from the penalty spot as B36 goalkeeper Tórður Thomsen guessed right after playing mind games with a water bottle.

After B36 had another big chance early in the 2nd half, NSÍ created several big scoring opportunities, but failed to capitalize on them, and in the dying moments, Lukasz Cieslewicz saved off the line to secure B36 the 3 points.

AB Argir - ÍF Fuglafjørður 2-0
1-0 Owngoal (Jógvan Isaksen)
2-0 Sorin Anghel

With today’s victory, AB took a decisive step away from the relegation zone and can start look upwards rather than downwards.

ÍF had a nightmarish start to the game, getting behind in the 10th minute through an owngoal from defender Jógvan Isaksen who ironically switched from AB to ÍF in the summer break.

And it went from bad to worse for ÍF as Ari Ellingsgaard was given a straight red card the minute after.

After some 30 minutes Sorin Anghel made it 2-0 as he first elegantly lifted the ball over the defender to get clear before he lobbed over Jákup Mikkelsen in the ÍF goal.

11 August

Víkingur - EB/Streymur 1-1 (0-0)
1-0 Arnbjørn Hansen
1-1 Finnur Justinussen

Víkingur opened aggressively and Súni Olsen hit the upright from the distance, and not long after, Finnur Justinussen shot over from a clear position.

EB/Streymur then improved and got the advantage with an extra man around the hour-mark when Víkingur midfielder Hans Jørgen Djurhuus got another red card for his collection. A quarter of an hour later, Arnbjørn Hansen netted for EB/Streymur, but the lead lasted only for 5 minutes as right back Bárður Hansen equalized from the edge of the penalty area following a long throw-in.
