June 29 & 30, 2012:
Round 15 of the premier league "effodeildin":

June 29

NSÍ Runavík - EB/Streymur 1-0 (0-0)
1-0 Magnus Olsen

League leaders EB/Streymur slipped up it must be said as they were beaten by strugglers NSÍ. And should KÍ Klaksvík beat lowly FC Suðuroy on Saturday, KÍ will be equal on points with EB/Streymur and a point ahead of Víkingur.

After EB/Streymur had had most of the possession in the first half, they played a poor second half, and after 63 minutes Magnus Olsen scored the winning goal for NSÍ directly on free kick from 35 metres.

It is extremely tight in the bottom of the table, and should B68 beat TB on Saturday, then all three of them (NSÍ, TB and B68) will be equal on points.

Víkingur - B36 Tórshavn 3-2 (2-1)
1-0 Kaj Leo í Bartalsstovu
2-0 Hjartvard Hansen
2-1 Jákup á Borg (pen)2-2 Jákup á Borg
3-2 Bárður Hansen

Víkingur dominated completely in the first half and took the lead after 20 minutes when Kaj Leo í Bartalsstovu spotted goalkeeper Meinhardt Joensen off his line and sneaked the ball over him.

Eight minutes later Hjartvard Hansen doubled Víkingur's lead as he was set up by central defender Erling Jacobsen who had come forward.

B36 looked out of it, but just before half-time they were given a lifeline when the referee blew for hands in connection with a corner and awarded B36 a penalty. Jákup á Borg converted safely from the spot.

B36 had the wind in their back in the second half which helped a lot. Á Borg missed a sitter on the hour but repaired the damage five minutes later when he scored from a rebound after Víkingur goalkeeper Gezza Turi couldn't hold on to Súni Olsen’s effort from the distance.

B36 were threatening, but Víkingur regained the lead with a quarter of an hour remaining with a thunderous shot from Bárður Hansen into the far corner after receiving the ball just outside the penalty are from a corner.

B36 rallied towards the end, but Víkingur held tight to take full advantage of EB/Streymur's slip-up against NSÍ Runavík.

At the end of the game, when the match was actually over, match-winner Hansen was given a red card after getting a second bookable offence.

ÍF Fuglafjørður - HB Tórshavn 2-0 (2-0)
1-0 Clayton Soares
2-0 Clayton Soares

In the past, HB rarely returned from Fuglafjørður without a win in the bag, but in the last few years that role has been reversed and HB regularly are sent home again empty-handed. That was again the case today after a lacklustre display in a game that ÍF controlled from start to finish.

ÍF took the lead after 12 minutes when Brazilian Clayton Soares was played clear to make the easy finish.

Soares netted again after 20 minutes after HB’s right back carelessly gave away the ball which was put across to Dánjal á Lakjuni on the other side near the by-line, where he got it over to Soares who tapped-in from close range.

HB were extremely poor and created nothing what so ever up front.

HB improved slightly from the start of the second half - assisted by the wind now - where they managed to put some pressure on the ÍF defence, but still without creating clear-cut scoring opportunities.

After 20 minutes the pressure wore off and most of the match went on in the centre-circle.

The last 25 minutes saw maybe one chance for ÍF and one for HB; that was about it in a dreadful and boring football match – although the ÍF supporters surely were well satisfied.

With the win, ÍF close the gap on leaders EB/Streymur and KÍ to 6 points while HB are 8 points off the pace which will be too difficult to make up in the last 12 matches. In fairness it should be mentioned that play was very much affected by the quite strong wind.

B68 Toftir - TB Tvøroyri 1-1 (1-0)
1-0 Ndende Adama Guéye
1-1 Gilli Sørensen

B68 was the better team in the first half and took the lead 10 minutes before the break when Senegalese Ndende scored on a rebound from an initial shot from Jónleif Højgaard that was blocked by a defender.

TB was more eager in the second half, but it looked like B68 would weather the storm as time was ebbing away, but more than two minutes into injury-time Gilli Sørensen grabbed a dramatic equalizer directly on free kick.

With the point, TB move 3 points clear of the relegation line and are sandwiched on 7th place between NSÍ Runavík (8) and B36 Tórshavn (6). B68 drop 2 points below the drop-line.

The match was played on Svangaskarð where the internationals used to be played, but where the (real) grass has now been replaced with artificial grass. This is now the regular home pitch for B68.

FC Suðuroy - KÍ Klaksvík 1-4 (0-1)
0-1 Henry Heinesen
0-2 Heðin á Lakjuni
0-3 Heðin Klakstein
0-4 Páll Klettskarð (pen)
1-4 Jón krosslá Poulsen

KÍ comfortably beat bottom team FC Suðuroy 4-1 to go level on points with EB/Streymur at the top of the table.

Defender Henry Heinesen headed home from a corner midway through the first half to give KÍ the half-time lead.

Veteran Heðin á Lakjuni doubled KÍ’s advantage early in the second half with a fine long range effort before Heðin Klakstein and Páll Klettskarð on a penalty scored in quick succession with some minutes remaining to make it 4-0.

Jón Krosslá Poulsen scored a consolation-goal for FC Suðuroy in added time.

The league now takes a 3-week summer break and returns on 21 July
