October 07, 2007: Round 25 of the Formula Division:

NSÍ Runavík all but secure the championship title as they beat GÍ Gøta while B36 Tórshavn lose against B71 Sandoy.

GÍ Gøta - NSÍ Runavík 0-4 (0-3)
0-1 Christian Høgni Jacobsen
0-2 Christian Høgni Jacobsen
0-3 Bogi Løkin
0-4 Óli Hansen (Pen)

1 win in 2 games (of which one is at home against relegated VB/Sumba) is all NSÍ need in order to secure the championship title 2007. It can not go wrong for them now! As rivals B36 surprisingly were defeated by B71 today, NSÍ took full advantage by winning an easy 4-0 victory away to GÍ Gøta. NSÍ were 3 up at half time. In the second half, NSÍ were running in cruice-control and added a fourth with a penalty 5 minutes from the end. Although NSÍ refuse to admit that they have most likely wrapped up the title, I'm going to congratulate NSÍ with the title now: Congratulation NSÍ! :-)

B71 Sandoy - B36 Tórshavn 1-0 (1-0)
1-0 Gudmund Nielsen

B36's title hopes were already dealt a blow when they could only drew with Skála 2 weeks ago, but they still hoped that NSÍ were going to get nervous towards the end of the season and throw it all back into b36's hands. But that faint hope totally vanished today, as B36 were surprisingly defeated by B71. B71 took the lead after 12 minutes, when they took full advantage of a mistake in the B36-defense. B36 looked shaken for the next 10 minutes, and B71 had a couple of great opportunities to add to the score. But B36 gradually worked their way back into the game and was in possession in most of the remainder. However, B71 defended very well, and very rarely did B36 really threaten the B71 goal. In the 5 minutes of stoppage time (which were extended to 10), B36's Alex dos Santos let his frustration over the probably-lost title-opportunity show, and was given march orders for a reckless tackle on a B71 player. So, trailing leaders NSÍ by 5 points, with only 2 matches remaining of the season, B36's chances of winning the title must be considered very slim, indeed. And actually, B36 could even be caught by EB/Streymur, whom B36 play next, and then B36 play HB on the last day of the season.

AB Argir - HB Tórshavn 1-2 (1-2)
0-1 Andrew av Fløtum
1-1 Jóhan Ellingsgaard
1-2 Andrew av Fløtum

HB took an early lead when Andrew av Fløtum scored after 6 minutes. However, AB levelled the score on the half-hour mark with a goal from Jóhan Ellingsgaard. About 25 minutes into the second half, HB secured the 3 points, when Andrew a Fløtum with his second goal of the afternoon placed a powerful header into the top right corner, after a cross from the right in connection with a corner. The match was an uninteresting one and lacked quality throughout. HB created a few half chances in the second half and had majority of possession. AB created very little up-front, and only once did they get close, when the goalkeeper failed to connect with a high long ball into the goal area, but AB's header went over the goal.

EB/Streymur - VB/Sumba 6-1 (3-0)
1-0 Arnbjørn Hansen
2-0 Hans Pauli Samuelsen
3-0 Hans Pauli Samuelsen
4-0 Arnbjørn Hansen
4-1 Dimitrije Jankovic
5-1 Sorin Anghel
6-1 Bárður Olsen

Before today's match, EB/Streymur's goal was to stay in front of HB in order to secure the bronze medals, but as B36 lost today, EB/Streymur are suddenly in for a shout for the silver medals. If they beat B36 in the next round (14 days, as the Faroe Islands play Euro qualifiers against France on Saturday and Ukraine the Wednesday after), and HB draw against B36 in the last round, then the silvers is EB/Streymur's, provided they beat B71 away themselves. But that doesn't have to be easy... just ask B36...

Skála - KÍ Klaksvík 0-1 (0-1)
1-0 Kristian á Lakjuni

Another one of these tame end-of-season matches for two mid-table-teams with no real motivation for either side to give their all.
