Rógvi Jacobsen's stoppage time winner for HB Tórshavn keeps the title undecided until the last match of the season

October 15 and 17, 2006: Round 26 of the Formula Division:

B68 Toftir - HB Tórshavn 0-1 (0-0)
0-1 Rógvi Jacobsen 90'

The 90 minutes had elapsed and HB were drawing with B68, and that meant that EB/Streymur (who had won 2-1 over ÍF Fuglafjørður) would win the championship title today, with one match remaining of the season. But then, 3 or 4 minutes into stoppage time, Rógvi Jacobsen's long toe swept the ball over B68's goal line and into the goal for a 1-0 victory to HB which means that HB is still in with a chance to snatch the championship title, but for that to happen, EB/Streymur will have to lose to KÍ Klaksvík as well as HB must win their home game against ÍF.

But it was B68 who made the brightest start to the match today and they could easily have taken the lead twice within the first 10 minutes.

First it was Súni Fríði Barbá who turned the defender and broke into HB's penalty area, and had only the keeper to beat, albeit from a tight angle, but a split second of hesitation allowed a defender to make a desperate block of Súni Fríði's shot.

A couple of minutes later Kristian Anton Andreassen's long range effort smashed against the crossbar.

But after that, HB gradually worked their way into the match and created several scoring opportunities, 3 or 4 of them 100% sitters, but they were all scandalously squandered.

Two fell to Jákup á Borg, who was twice clear with only the keeper to beat, but in both incidents his shots were right on the keeper, Tórður Thomsen, who came well out of his goal to narrow the angle.

One fell to Rókur av Fløtum Jespersen, but he emulated Jákup á Borg and placed his shot right on the goalkeeper.

Kári Nielsen also went close in connection with a free kick that was extended via Rógvi Jacobsen's head, but from 5 meters, Kári was unsuccessful.

The second half was more or less a long HB-attack and for long period of times, HB laid siege of B68's goal, although they maybe did not create as good opportunities as they did in the first half.

But then, late in the game, B68 almost stole the victory when B68's Brazilian forward, Anderson, bombarded the ball on HB's post. – A narrow escape for HB, indeed.

But HB kept pressuring B68's goal and the referee added about 4 minutes of stoppage time (B68 had done a lot of time wasting in addition to 1 or 2 "legal" injury-stoppages) when HB's left back, Janus Joensen, sent a diagonal cross into B68's penalty area where Rógvi Jacobsen headed the ball to Jákup á Borg, who again played it to Rógvi Jacobsen, who in 2 or 3 attempts finally swept it over the goal-line and into the goal for a last gasp victory for HB, who thereby denied EB/Streymur from winning the title today.

The title will now be decided on the last day of the season, Saturday 21st. EB/Streymur is still 2 points in front of HB and with their superior goal difference, EB/streymur can afford to draw with KÍ Klaksvík and still clinch the title. HB play at home against ÍF Fuglafjørður.

ÍF Fuglafjørður – EB/Streymur 1-2 (0-1)
EB/Streyur are back to winning ways after having secured only 1 point in their last 2 league matches, as well as they lost the 2nd leg cup semi-final against B36. But they had to work for their victory today, as ÍF had not given up on avoiding relegation. But after 25 minutes of the first half, EB/Streymur took the lead thanks to a goal from Sorin Anghel. Nowever, ÍF levelled the score 6 minutes into the second half when Símun Eliasen scored after a corner. But before ÍF were done celebrating their equalizer, EB/Streymur restored heir lead with a headed goal from Arnbjørn Hansen after a corner. A draw against KÍ Klaksvík will now be enough for EB/Streymur to secure the title in the last match of the season, on Saturday. For ÍF to avoid relegation, they will now have to beat HB, who, if they beat ÍF, will snatch the title away from EB/Streymur, if EB/Streymur mess it up against KÍ...

VB/Sumba – NSÍ Runavík 2-0 (2-0)
VB/Sumba won an unexpected 2-0 victory (they even missed a second half penalty) over NSÍ Runavík and jumped over the relegation line in the table and if B68 fail to get a point away to NSÍ next Saturday, then VB/Sumba will stay in the Formula Division. Of course, VB/Sumba can also secure their place by beating Skála in the last round, but in their previous 2 meetings this season, Skála beat VB/Suma 5-0 and 4-0. NSÍ have only taken 4 points out of a possible 21 in their last 7 matches.

KÍ Klaksvík - GÍ Gøta 1-4 (0-2)
B36 Tórshavn - Skála 2-2 (1-0)
