June 29 & July 12 & 16, 2006: Round 17 of the Formula Division:

Hat-trick for Christian Lundberg as KÍ Klaksvík beat GÍ Gøta 4-1

June 29, 2006:

GÍ Gøta - KÍ Klaksvík 1-4 (0-0)
Because of GÍ's involvement in the European Cup in July, the match between GÍ and KÍ in round 17, that was supposed to be played on July 16, was brought forward to today. This seemingly has been a "secret" match, as not much has been mentioned about it being brought forward. For example, the Soccer Association's website doesn't mention it and there it is still listed to be played on the original date, July 16.

But anyhow, the match took place this evening and after the stalemate in the first half, KÍ upped the tempo in the second half and won 4-1. After some unimpressive results over the last weeks, KÍ seems to be back on track, not least thanks to their new lean mean scoring-machine, Christian Lundberg, who scored a hat-trick tonight and has now scored 5 goals in 3 games for KÍ. Both KÍ and GÍ play again on Sunday; KÍ away to NSÌ Runavík and GÍ away to Skála.

July 12:

EB/Streymur – ÍF Fuglafjørður
The game between EB/Streymur and ÍF this evening was called off 10 minutes into the second half because of the strong wind which made it impossible to play. The result at that time was, luckily, 0-0. There's no news yet when the (new) game will take place, but it will be sometime in August.
August, 23: EB/Streymur - ÍF Fuglafjørður 2-0 (2-0)
1-0 Arnbjørn Hansen
2-0 Hans Pauli Samuelsen

July 16:

HB Tórshavn – B68 Toftir 3-2 (1-1)

Twice, B68 equalized HB's lead but then HB got the winner deep into stoppage time.

In the first half, HB found it very difficult to break down the B68 defense as B68 played with many men behind the ball and although HB had the vast majority of the possession, they created more or less no scoring opportunities. But shortly before the interval, HB finally found an opening. From the left hand side, the ball was squared hard to Jákup á Borg on the right at the backline and he passed the ball in front of goal again where an unmarked Páll Mohr Joensen tapped it in.

But just a couple of minutes later, B68 found a surprising equalizer after a B68 shot from Ralph van Dooren had taken a wicked deflection off a HB-foot.

B68 could also have taken the lead midway in the first half with at cheeky free kick combination, but the shot was blocked on the line.

But in the second half the game opened more up as B68 were more offensive than they had been in the first half.

10 minutes into the second half, HB introduced the returned Rógvi Jacobsen to the pitch and he immediately made an impact on the game as he was more eager than the rest, had more pace, and he was physically stronger and worked very hard.

But it B68 who had the first good opportunity of the second half when a B68 player was through one on one with the goalkeeper, but Tróndur Vatnhamar saved with his legs outside the penalty area.

In the following attack, HB went close when they hit the post.

About half an hour into the second half, HB restored their lead. HB took a quick free kick; Tór-Ingar Akselsen turned outside the penalty area and hammered a well placed shot into the back of the net just inside the right post.

But B68 responded almost immediately. The attack started from their own penalty area were they were under pressure from the chasing HB-players, but they combined well to get out of trouble, Julian Johnson searched up field and played the ball on the right and when the ball was crossed in front of goal, Joen Petur Poulsen was there to tap it in in front of the HB goalkeeper.

But then, deep into injury time, about 4 minutes, HB scored the winning goal from a corner. The referee credited the goal to Mortan úr Hørg, but in the radio, captain Janus Rasmussen claimed it was his goal.

NSÍ Runavík – VB/Sumba 2-1 (2-1)
NSÍ did hat was expected of them when they beat VB/Sumba, although it was VB/Sumba who took the lead. Iulian Florescu, who has just switched from KÍ to NSÍ was the provider in both of NSÍ's goals, as he was so often for KÍ earlier this season and especially Skála the previous 2 seasons.

Skála – B36 Tórshavn 1-0 (0-0)
Highflying B36 failed to close in on leaders EB/Streymur as they were beaten by Skála's second half penalty. For Skála, the 3 points gave them some hard needed breathing space in the relegation battle and surely won't slip below the line again.
