Faroe Islands play friendly vs. Poland

April 11, 2006: National Team:

The Faroe Islands will play a friendly game against Poland on May 14, 2006 in Wronki, Poland.

For the Poles, the game is part of their preparations for the World Cup in Germany this summer. The Faroes also welcome this game as a part of their preparations for the qualifying campaign for the European Championship in Austria and Switzerland 2008. The Faroes play their first match at home against Georgia on August 16, 2006.

The Faroe Island also played a friendly against Poland in 2002 (in Cyprus). Poland won 2-1. Jógvan Martin Olsen was caretaking coach for that game, as the Faroes still hadn’t found a new coach for Allan Simonsen, who had quit after 7 years. Jógvan Martin Olsen was appointed new coach for the Faroe Islands in October last year and this will be his first official international as head coach for the Faroe Islands (if we disregard the one mentioned above).

Round 8 of the Formula Division, which was supposed to be played on May 14 and 15, will be put forward to Wednesday and Thursday on May 10 and 11.

Round 8 of the Formula Division:
10-05 NSÍ Runavík - Skála
10-05 ÍF Fuglafjørður - B68 Toftir
10-05 EB/Streymur - KÍ Klaksvík
10-05 B36 Tórshavn - GÍ Gøta
11-05 HB Tórshavn - VB/Sumba
